Origin

XDrum singing bowls are crafted in India using an elaborate process. While they were traditionally used in the Himalayas primarily as cooking and eating vessels, Buddhist monks discovered the bowls as meditation aids and gave them a completely new purpose.

Handmade One-of-a-Kind Pieces

XDrum singing bowls are meticulously handcrafted from seven materials. This alloy consists of the metals copper, zinc, iron, nickel, aluminum, silver, and gold. The exact composition can vary from maker to maker. To achieve the final shape and individual sound, the alloy is hammered into the desired form over a fire, often being heated and cooled up to 30 times.

Unlike machine-made bowls, XDrum’s handcrafted models are unique originals. A certain tolerance in the bowl’s diameter and weight is entirely normal and does not indicate any reduction in quality.

How to Use

To produce the beneficial tones and vibrations, the bowls are struck or rubbed with a mallet. In this way the bowl can even be made to sing. When multiple bowls are played at the same time, they create their own enchanting sound pattern.

Cushion

The singing bowl cushion serves as a base for the Tibetan bowl and affects its timbre and resonance. It prevents the tone from being influenced by the surface—such as a table or floor—or other background noises when the bowl is struck.
