The integrated USB MP3 recorder lets you record directly to a USB stick; the trick: all signals (vocals, keystrokes and any external audio sources) are saved in a single stereo MP3 file. Like a grand piano, the UP-1 offers 3 pedals that shape tone and dynamics: the soft pedal (left foot), the sostenuto pedal and the damper pedal, which lets notes decay naturally. The sostenuto pedal sustains selected notes longer, while the soft pedal produces a gentler tone.

For powerful sound the UP-1 features a built-in stereo hi-fi speaker system, which can be tailored via the integrated equalizer with 6 presets.

The two bass speakers are mounted under the keybed and radiate sound downward, where reflections from the floor create a very natural room sound. Unusually for this price class, the two high-frequency drivers are aimed directly at the pianist. This special arrangement results in an extremely nuanced tonal character with full presence.
