Yamaha HS7 Studio Monitor - Welcome to Reality!
Since the 1970s, Yamaha's cult reference monitors with the white cone have been the industry benchmark for their accurate, authentic reproduction. Other studio monitors may flatter the ears at first with boosted bass and treble — but they can also lead you to misjudge a mix. Yamaha's HS models, by contrast, deliver reference sound, which means you can rely on their honesty and accuracy throughout the entire mixing process.
Yamaha's speaker engineers combined decades of expertise with careful craftsmanship during development. They used cutting-edge technology and iteratively refined the product until the speakers became some of the most reliable reference monitors in the audio scene. The second generation of the HS series not only improves on the originals but also adds a new 6.5" model, giving you more choices for your studio.

Newly Developed Drivers
The HS series features newly developed drivers that deliver a remarkably balanced response across a wide frequency range. The behavior of the speaker magnets and the magnetic field they generate have been perfected, playing a major role in achieving clean, natural-sounding transduction. All components, including raw materials and circuit designs, were carefully tested and fine-tuned to ensure absolutely accurate signal reproduction across the entire audible spectrum.
High-Performance Power Amplifiers
The amplifiers in the HS series are perfectly matched to the drivers of each model. Thanks to the bi-amped design, the high- and low-frequency drivers each have their own amplifier. The amps themselves are of outstanding quality and contribute significantly to the monitors' high-resolution sound and linear frequency response.
Low-Resonance Cabinet Construction
A special cabinet design prevents unwanted resonances in the HS series, allowing playback precision to reach the limits of what's possible. The cabinets are made from durable MDF with ideal damping properties, an excellent choice for studio monitors. Drawing on over 100 years of piano manufacturing experience, Yamaha's HS engineers used a traditional three-way miter joint. This construction locks the cabinet panels firmly together at the corners, making the units very durable and keeping unwanted resonances under control, which could otherwise negatively affect the sound.

Innovative Techniques for Minimizing Unwanted Noise
Bass-reflex ports can add low-end punch, but they can also negatively affect the sound. Turbulence at both ends of the port can create air vibrations that generate unwanted noise. Through careful analysis, Yamaha engineers optimized the bass-reflex channel and minimized its tendency to turbulent flow, resulting in up to 6 dB less noise. That allows HS-series monitors to perform even under the strictest production requirements.
Controls and Connections
The full-range models of the HS series offer two tone controls that let you adapt the speakers to the acoustic properties and geometry of the room boundaries. ROOM CONTROL lets you reduce the exaggerated bass that inevitably occurs when speakers are placed near walls. HIGH TRIM lets you adjust the high-frequency response. On the input side, the full-range speakers feature TRS and XLR jacks suitable for both balanced and unbalanced connections from keyboards, mixers, and audio interfaces.
On the HS8S subwoofer, the cutoff frequency of the switchable low-pass filter (HIGH CUT) can be set between 80 and 120 Hz. The high-pass filter at the output (LOW CUT) can also be set between 80 and 120 Hz. PHASE lets you invert the phase at the subwoofer output. The HS8S subwoofer's outputs (L, R and EXT SUB) use XLR connectors. Inputs are available in both TRS and XLR formats.

Absolutely precise imaging, very high resolution & a flat frequency response!
