Yamaha HS7 Studio Monitor - Welcome To Reality!
Since the 1970s, Yamaha's cult reference monitors with the white cone have been the benchmark across the audio industry for their accurate, authentic reproduction. Other studio monitors with boosted bass and treble may flatter the ear on first listen — but they can also lead you to make serious mistakes when judging a mix. Yamaha's HS models, by contrast, deliver reference sound, meaning you can rely on their honesty and accuracy throughout the entire mixing process.
Yamaha's speaker engineers combined decades of expertise with deep technical know-how during development. Cutting-edge technology was used and the product was refined until monitors emerged that rank among the most reliable reference listening tools in the audio scene. The second generation of the HS series has not only been improved, it was also expanded with a new 6.5" model, giving you even more choice for your studio.

Newly Developed Drivers
The HS series features newly developed drivers that deliver a remarkably balanced response across a wide frequency range. The behavior of the speaker magnets and the magnetic field they generate has been perfected and plays a major role in flawless, natural-sounding transduction. All assemblies, including their raw materials and circuit designs, were carefully tested and refined to achieve absolutely accurate signal reproduction across the entire audible spectrum.
High-Performance Power Amplifiers
The amps in the HS series are perfectly matched to each model's drivers. Thanks to the "bi-amplified" design, the tweeter and woofer each have their own dedicated amplifier. The amplifiers themselves are of outstanding quality and make a key contribution to the monitors' high-resolution sound and linear frequency response.
Low-Resonance Cabinet Construction
A special cabinet design prevents unwanted resonances in the HS series, allowing reproduction precision to be pushed to the limit. The cabinets are made from durable MDF with optimal damping characteristics, which is ideal for studio monitors. With more than 100 years of piano-building experience, Yamaha's HS engineers used the traditional three-way miter joint. This construction securely locks the cabinet panels together at the corners, making the units not only very durable but also keeping unwanted resonances that could negatively affect the sound under control.

Innovative Techniques to Minimize Noise
Bass-reflex ports can add punch, but they can also negatively affect the sound. Turbulence at both ends of the port channel creates air vibrations that in turn produce unwanted noise. Through carefully executed analysis, Yamaha engineers optimized the bass-reflex channel and minimized its tendency to cause turbulence, resulting in up to 6 dB of noise reduction. That allows HS-series monitors to meet even the strictest and most demanding production requirements.
Controls and Connections
The full-range HS models feature two tone controls that let you adapt the speakers to the room's acoustic properties and boundary surfaces. ROOM CONTROL lets you reduce the boosted bass that inevitably occurs when speakers are placed near walls. HIGH TRIM lets you fine-tune the high-frequency response. On the input side, the full-range speakers are equipped with jack and XLR sockets suitable for both balanced and unbalanced connections to devices ranging from keyboards and mixers to audio interfaces.
On the HS8S subwoofer, the cutoff frequency of the selectable low-pass filter (HIGH CUT, trimming high frequencies) can be set between 80 and 120 Hz. The high-pass filter at the output (LOW CUT, trimming low frequencies) can also be positioned between 80 and 120 Hz. PHASE allows the phase at the subwoofer output to be inverted. The HS8S features XLR outputs (L, R and EXT SUB). Inputs are available in both jack and XLR formats.

Absolutely precise imaging, very high resolution & a flat frequency response!
