For all lovers of Celtic (and, naturally, other) music, the 22-string Celtic Harp from Classic Cantabile delivers feel-good tones for everyone.

Typical Body Shape

The Celtic harp is known for the gracefully curved shape of its column, like the one on the Irish coat of arms. Crafted from ash, the lever harp spans 3 octaves (a - a³).

Tuning

The 22 strings are tuned diatonically to E-flat major, with the blue and red strings indicating the positions of C and F. By flipping up the respective levers the harp can be quickly retuned to another key, making it very flexible for playing with others. For first attempts and easier understanding, C tuning is also possible. Two tuning wrenches are provided for tuning the instrument: the square wrench is used on the tuning pegs, while the hex wrench is for the fine tuners on the opposite side.

Lever Mechanism

The harp's special mechanism makes it a versatile companion in different keys. Each string is fitted with a semitone lever that, when engaged, raises the pitch of that string by a semitone. That way you're ready for any sharp key with just a few simple adjustments.

To prevent transport damage, the harp is shipped with the levers folded up. When setting up, fold them all down so the strings can vibrate freely. In this state the harp is tuned to C major; it's perfectly normal for the strings to need regular retuning during the first few weeks. Once the strings have stretched sufficiently, however, the tuning will hold much longer.

The softly padded bag not only gives your instrument ample protection against dust and scratches, the outer pocket even has enough room for both tuning wrenches and additional accessories.

Tuner with Metronome

This universal device is the perfect companion for virtually any instrument. Not only can almost any instrument be tuned accurately using the contact microphone and the wide pitch range, but the built-in metronome keeps you in tempo. The calibratable tuner offers 5 tuning modes, a tone generator, and a jack input for the contact microphone. The metronome has a broad tempo range from 30 to 260 beats per minute, 9 time signatures and various rhythm subdivisions.

Harp Course

Kristine Warmhold explains all essential information for harp beginners in this course. From setup, tuning and posture to various plucking techniques, the most important skills are developed through the songs. You get a detailed explanation for each exercise in the additional videos, which are available as downloads. All songs are also played in the videos; this gives you a better idea at the start of how the finished piece should sound, and later you can play a "duet" with Kristine. All videos are performed on the small 12-string harp, so you can start with any larger harp as well.

Kirstein Solid Music Stand

This music stand features a tripod construction for optimal stability. Of course the legs have sturdy, non-slip rubber caps. The sheet music desk tilts and can be fixed with a thumbscrew. With an approx. 4 cm deep sheet music ledge, this stand is also excellent for thick music books.
