All acoustic drum kits available in the DTX-PRO were recorded in world-renowned studios. In addition to the original drum set samples, the authentic and mixable room ambience of those studios was captured perfectly.

For the final audio results, performances by leading Yamaha drum artists were sampled by a team of experienced recording engineers. The project lead and specialist in electronic instrument development employed a highly specialized recording process to capture the full natural detail of every cymbal and drum shell as accurately as possible.

Thanks to careful tuning of the sound module to the pads that act as the interface, the DTX6 models can follow every nuance of a drum performance with exceptionally expressive response.

The KIT MODIFIERs combine Yamaha's decades of sound-shaping know-how into three easy-to-use knobs: AMBIENCE, COMPRESSION and EFFECT. Thanks to the dedication of Yamaha's developers, users benefit from a wide palette of sonic options — from the natural sound of a drum kit, to the vibe of a live performance, to expansive, immersive effects.

The AMBIENCE knob lets you precisely adjust the natural room component and reverb level of a drum kit. For the sampled acoustic drum sounds, the AMBIENCE modifier mixes 0–50% of the original recording room ambience into the signal, and above 50% it adds a high-quality reverb algorithm to the main signal.

The COMP and EFFECT knobs use the familiar one-knob operation known from Yamaha's PA series.

The COMP effect, which can be subtle or unmistakable, applies global compression to the kit's overall sound, while the EFFECT knob controls the mix of internal effects. The processors remain fully adjustable and offer a long list of selectable effects.

Yamaha's original TCS mesh surface uses a foamed silicone material containing thousands of tiny air cells. With an ideal balance of stiffness and rebound that withstands hard hits, TCS technology provides a realistic, natural playing feel that won't let you down and makes you want to play more.

In addition, a floating structure with no direct contact between head and shell prevents vibrations from transferring to other components. At the same time, pad sensitivity has been significantly increased, and the air cells within the TCS heads dampen stick noise in a way similar to a cushion.

A Detailed Reproduction Of Your Drum Performance

The DTX6 series uses three-zone pads for snare, crash* and ride. The snare model provides the main articulations: head, closed rim and open rim. The cymbals have zones for edge, bow and bell response and also offer the option to manually choke at the edge. Overall, the technology used enables a wide range of performance techniques so drummers can improve not only their accuracy but also their expression.

The ride cymbal pad offers multiple sensor zones that trigger different sound variations depending on position. In practice, this means that, combined with the DTX-PRO's high-resolution and unusually long samples, detailed cymbal work can be reproduced accurately.

The DTX-PRO module provides built-in options to communicate not only with other technical gear but also with the outside world. Via USB you can receive and send MIDI data and transfer digital audio to and from a computer or smart device. The unit also includes a MIDI OUT port for sending data to external devices. In addition, up to 14 pads or drum triggers can be connected to the module via the trigger inputs, making it easy to create a hybrid kit of electronic and acoustic drums.

An App That Makes Recording, Editing And Sharing A Breeze

The DTX-PRO module is compatible with the iOS/Android app Rec'n'Share, which not only lets you play along with tracks but also helps you practice your songs efficiently.
