All acoustic drum kits available in the DTX-PRO were recorded in world-renowned studios. In addition to the original drum set samples, the authentic and mixable room ambience of these studios was perfectly captured.

For the final audio results, the performances of leading Yamaha drum artists were sampled by a team of experienced sound engineers. The project leader and professional in electronic musical instrument development relied on a highly specialized recording process to capture the detail of every cymbal and drum in its full naturalness in the best possible way.

Through careful tuning of the sound module to the pads acting as interfaces, the DTX6 series models are able to follow every nuance of a drum performance with outstandingly expressive response.

Intuitive Functionality That Sparks Your Creativity

The KIT MODIFIER knobs of the DTX-PRO fuel drummers’ creativity with an unlimited range of possibilities.

The KIT MODIFIER combines Yamaha’s decades of sound-shaping expertise with AMBIENCE, COMPRESSION, and EFFECT in the form of three easy-to-use knobs. Thanks to Yamaha developers’ great dedication, users benefit from a wide range of tonal options—from the natural sound of a drum set, through the sound of a live performance, to expansive effects.

The AMBIENCE knob lets you precisely adjust the natural room component and reverb level of a drum kit. For the sampled acoustic drum sounds, the AMBIENCE MODIFIER blends 0 to 50% of the room sound from the original recording space and above 50% adds a high-quality reverb algorithm to the main signal.

The COMP and EFFECT controls use the familiar and convenient one-knob operation known from Yamaha’s PA series.

The COMP effect, which can be subtle or unmistakably present, applies global compression to the overall kit sound, while EFFECT controls the mix of internal effects. The processors remain fully adjustable and offer a long list of various effects to choose from.

Playing Pleasure in a Whole New League

The DTX6 series is equipped with TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) heads, which provide a completely new level of sensitivity and noise reduction in practice.

Yamaha’s original TCS head surface uses a foamed silicone material containing thousands of tiny air bubbles. With a perfect mix of firmness and rebound capability that withstands even hard hits, the TCS technology offers a realistic and natural playing feel that won’t let you down and will make you want more.

Additionally, a floating structure without direct contact to the head and shell ensures that vibrations are not transmitted to other components. At the same time, the sensitivity of the pads is significantly increased, and the stick sound is cushioned by the air bubbles inside the TCS heads, similar to the function of a pillow.

The high-performance sound engine used in the DTX-PRO module directly reflects Yamaha’s decades of experience building various instruments. Each channel of the DTX-PRO module features a three-band, tunable EQ, channel compression (in addition to global kit compression), transient response adjustment (attack and release of each sound are individually adjustable), and internal effects insertion. Nothing stands in the way of your favorite sound!

Complementing this, Yamaha drum pads feature special sensing technologies to respond precisely to the drummer’s playing. This allows unleashing the same expressiveness already built into the underlying sounds.

The DTX6 series features three-zone pads for snare, crash*, and ride. The snare model offers the main articulations: head, closed rim, and open rim. The cymbals have zones for edge, bow, and bell response, as well as the option to manually choke at the edge. Overall, the technology used ensures a wide range of possible performance techniques, allowing drummers to improve not only their accuracy but also their expression.

The ride cymbal pad offers different sensor zones that trigger various sound variants depending on the position. In practice, this means that combined with the high-resolution and unusually long samples of the DTX-PRO, detailed cymbal playing can be accurately reproduced.

The KP90 kick pad features Yamaha’s unique multi-layer cushion structure, delivering the perfect blend of feel and comfort regardless of stroke strength. Measuring 7.5" diagonally and secured against slipping with appropriate spikes, the pad can also be comfortably and stably played with a double bass pedal.

The completely redesigned RS6 rack system* gives you the freedom of a customizable and robustly built drum rack that requires little maintenance beyond initial setup. The left part of the rack is open to provide ample space for both the hi-hat stand and a double pedal with performance. The acoustic-look L-shaped feet also ensure optimal stability and durability.

The DTX-PRO module offers the ability to communicate not only with other technical equipment but also with the outside world. Via USB, MIDI data can be both received and sent, and digital audio signals can be exchanged with a computer or smart device. The device also has a MIDI OUT port supporting sending data to external devices. Furthermore, up to 14 pads or drum triggers can be connected to the module via trigger inputs, making the creation of a hybrid kit from electronic and acoustic drums a breeze.

An App That Makes Recording, Editing, and Sharing Content Easy

The DTX-PRO module is compatible with the iOS/Android app Rec'n'Share, which supports you not only in playing along with tracks but also efficiently practicing your songs. You can easily change the tempo of the backing track, add a click track, or loop individual sections. These features make practicing your favorite songs even more effective. The Rec'n'Share app can also easily record your own playing in audio format or combined as video using the camera of the connected smart device.
