XDrum singing bowls are crafted in India through an elaborate process. While in the Himalayas they were primarily used as cooking and eating utensils, Buddhist monks discovered singing bowls as meditation aids and thus gave the bowls a whole new purpose.

Handmade Unique Pieces

XDrum singing bowls are made with elaborate and painstaking handcrafting from 7 materials. This alloy consists of the metals copper, zinc, iron, nickel, aluminum, silver, and gold. The exact composition can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. To achieve the final shape and individual sound, the alloy is hammered over a fire into the desired form. It is often heated and cooled up to 30 times during this process.

Unlike machine-made singing bowls, the handmade XDrum models are unique one-offs. A certain tolerance in diameter and weight of the bowl is quite normal and does not represent a reduction in quality.

Handling

To produce the soothing sounds and vibrations, the singing bowls are struck or rubbed with a mallet. In this way, the singing bowl can even be made to sing. When several bowls are played simultaneously, a unique, enchanting sound pattern emerges.
