Origin

The XDrum singing bowls are crafted in India using a labor-intensive process. While they were still used mainly as cooking and eating utensils in the Himalayas, Buddhist monks discovered the bowls as meditation aids and thus gave them an entirely new purpose.

Handmade One-of-a-Kind Pieces

XDrum singing bowls are made in painstaking handwork from seven materials. This alloy consists of the metals copper, zinc, iron, nickel, aluminum, silver and gold. The exact composition can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. To achieve the final shape and the individual sound, the alloy is hammered into the desired form over a fire. In the process it is often heated and cooled again up to 30 times.

Unlike machine-made bowls, XDrum's handcrafted models are unique one-of-a-kind pieces. A certain tolerance in the bowl's diameter and weight is perfectly normal and does not indicate any reduction in quality.

Handling

To produce the beneficial sounds and vibrations, the bowls are struck or rubbed with a mallet. In this way the bowl can even be made to sing. When several bowls are played together, a charming, entirely unique sound pattern emerges.
