Origin

The XDrum singing bowls are crafted in India using an elaborate process. While they were still used mainly as cooking and eating vessels in the Himalayas, Buddhist monks discovered the bowls as aids to meditation and thus gave them an entirely new purpose.

Handmade Unique Pieces

XDrum singing bowls are produced by laborious handcrafting from seven materials. This alloy consists of the metals copper, zinc, iron, nickel, aluminum, silver and gold. The exact composition can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. To achieve the final shape and the individual sound, the alloy is hammered into the desired form over a fire. It is often heated and cooled up to 30 times.

Unlike machine-made bowls, the handcrafted XDrum models are unique pieces. A certain tolerance in diameter and weight of the bowl is entirely normal and does not constitute a reduction in quality.

Handling

To produce the beneficial sounds and vibrations, the singing bowls are struck or rubbed with a mallet. In this way the bowl can even be made to sing. When several bowls are played at the same time, a distinctive, enchanting sound pattern emerges.
