Classic Cantabile ND-16 All Natural Frame Drum 16"

Natural Sound With Authentic Character!

The Classic Cantabile ND-16 All Natural Frame Drum 16" combines a solid ash frame with genuine natural hide and a consistently natural choice of materials. The frame drum, also called a frame drum or hand drum, delivers a warm, characterful and lively sound. It can be played with the hands or with the included beater and is suitable for rhythmic playing as well as meditation, sound work and intentionally crafted soundscapes.

Solid Ash Frame

The stable foundation of the ND-16 is a frame made of solid ash. The natural wood gives the drum an authentic, original look and reinforces its organic character. With a wall thickness of 12 mm the frame features a sturdy construction. The 16" diameter (38.1 cm) offers a balanced playing surface and combines comfortable handling with a full, present response.

Genuine Natural Hide With a Unique Appearance

The playing surface is made from genuine natural hide. This natural material shapes both the appearance and the lively tonal character of the frame drum. Because the hide is a natural product, variations in color, pattern and texture may occur. These natural differences are part of the instrument's individual character and make each drum visually unique. At the same time, the natural hide supports a warm, organic tone with direct response.

Consistently Crafted From Natural Materials

With the Classic Cantabile ND-16, natural materials are clearly at the forefront. Solid ash, natural hide, leather and cord define the construction and appearance of the frame drum. On the back there is a leather cross fixed with a cord. This construction provides a practical way to hold the drum securely while playing and complements the instrument's original, stripped-back design.

Balanced Size With 16" Diameter

With its 16" playing surface, the frame drum offers a successful balance of compact handling and sonic presence. Powerful strokes can be produced just as easily as finer rhythmic accents. Different striking positions on the natural hide allow for varied timbres and make the ND-16 a versatile instrument for free rhythms, steady pulse patterns and atmospheric sound design.

Playable by Hand or With the Beater

The hand drum can be played directly with the hands or with the included beater. Hand playing gives particularly direct control over dynamics and tone. The beater, on the other hand, produces defined, powerful attacks and highlights the drum's characteristic fundamental tone. Thus, despite its intentionally simple, non-tunable design, the ND-16 offers versatile options for different playing approaches.

For Meditation, Spirituality and Rhythmic Playing

With its natural choice of materials and warm sound, the ND-16 is aimed particularly at people interested in meditation, spirituality, esotericism, sound work or natural musical instruments. At the same time, it is suitable for percussion fans and anyone looking for an easy-to-play frame drum with authentic character. Its original construction supports both mindful listening and communal music-making as well as free rhythmic improvisation.

Non-Tunable and Uncomplicated Design

The Classic Cantabile ND-16 is built as a non-tunable frame drum, focusing on easy handling and its natural basic tone. No tuning work or additional adjustments are required. The diameter of 38.1 cm provides enough playing surface for expressive strokes and nuanced rhythms, while the drum remains pleasantly manageable.
