Joy That Lasts - The New Arius!
The defined tone and expressive lightness when playing feel like a real piano. It almost plays itself and unleashes the sound and music you carry within. Start your day with music and a broad smile on your face – the ARIUS piano inspires you to play more.
Beautiful, Powerful Sound Sampled from the Premium Yamaha CFX Concert Grand
The YDP-145 features a piano sound sampled from Yamaha's high-end CFX concert grand – a renowned piano that combines brilliant highs and a powerful, resonant bass in an exceptionally expressive tone.
The YDP-145 has the same individual sound – from the low to the high keys – full of brilliance and rich in colorful harmonic content. It gives you extraordinary expressiveness and nuances that feel authentic both in your daily practice and your most emotional performances.

Authentic Acoustic Playability and Full Control with the Half-Pedal Unit
With an 88-key piano action, the GHS keyboard (Graded Hammer Standard) mimics the touch of an acoustic piano, from a naturally heavy feel on the lower keys to a lighter touch in the upper octaves. The GHS keyboard offers the functionality and playing feel of a grand piano, enabling fast repetition and authentic expressive control. Additionally, there is a half-damper function that authentically replicates the damper effect of a grand piano, allowing for diverse expressive variations.
Harmonic Resonance Like a Grand Piano – Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite)
One fascination of the grand piano is the distinctive resonance created by the vibration of the entire instrument. The YDP-145 reproduces this strong resonance effect through groundbreaking technology called Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite). VRM Lite generates a rich sound by simulating the complex resonances that occur when string vibrations transfer to the soundboard and other strings. This happens according to the timing and intensity of your playing on the keyboard and pedals.

Robust and Powerful Sound Produced by the "Tone Escapement Construction"
The YDP-145 uses a newly developed "Tone Escapement" technology on the back that, in addition to the speakers, projects the sound from inside the piano outward. This way, you experience the natural sound radiation and three-dimensional resonance like an acoustic piano.
A Wide Range of Built-In Songs and Intuitive Operation with the Smart Pianist App
Besides authentic grand piano sounds, the YDP-145 offers various other instruments with a total of 10 voices – including electric piano, organ, vibraphone, and strings.
The YDP-145 also features 353 built-in songs, including 50 famous classical pieces and 303 comprehensive exercises from renowned methods such as Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny, and Hanon. The instrument is also compatible with Yamaha's free Smart Pianist app – simply download it on your smart device and connect it to the instrument*.
With the Smart Pianist app, you can easily control the instrument’s various voice functions and access the score display for internal and external songs. It also offers a comprehensive Piano Room function, allowing you to customize the tone quality and resonance settings of the piano sound to your preferences.
* A cable connection is required. Make sure to purchase the appropriate cable for your smart device.

Features for Improved Listening Comfort When Using Headphones
The YDP-145 uses new technology that optimally adjusts the sound balance according to the volume you select – for an exceptionally natural sound that protects your ears even during long playing sessions.
It also features a Stereophonic Optimizer effect, allowing you to enjoy the natural, spatial sound you experience in front of an acoustic grand piano, even when playing with headphones.
A Stylish Design That Fits Your Interior
Although mostly based on straight lines, it impresses with a stylish design featuring elegant curves typical of a grand piano. Moreover, you can choose from a variety of color options to perfectly match your interior and personal taste.

Additional Features
Maximum Volume Limitation
With a new volume limit function, you can set a fixed maximum volume to protect your hearing from excessive levels over speakers or headphones.
Recording and Playback of Your Performances
The YDP-145 offers powerful features that let you record and review your performances or record one part with one hand while practicing the other, listening to the first part. Additionally, you can record two tracks separately – for example, left and right hand – or two different voices consecutively to create a complete song and arrangement.
Play Along with a Partner – in the Same Octave Range
This feature gives you two keyboards in one instrument, allowing two players to play side by side with the same piano sound and in the same octave range. This is especially useful when learning or practicing together with a partner.

I quickly realized that the keyboard was going to be one of the most decisive and important points for me. Nowadays, it's probably common and supposedly a sign of quality if the keys have a roughened surface, which has a positive effect on the feel when you touch them. That may be the case BUT...from the very first moment I felt that this was an annoying element that I didn't like at all. I personally love the "acrylic coating look" and also the feeling of touching and playing this "shiny" surface, as is the case with most old pianos/grands. Of course, I also realized that a real piano reacts, sounds and produces and transmits sound very differently than an electric piano can. Of course, there are also differences in the material of the keys and the length, some are made of wood and are almost the same as a real piano, while others only have a wooden core or an outer casing made of wood or imitation wood. I did a lot of trial and error and with the specifications that the keyboard had to meet, the circle of possibilities narrowed quite quickly.
I also had to consider the fact that I wouldn't be able to fit every piano into the room I had in mind, as it simply wasn't structurally feasible. The choices were the Kawai CA-701 (the CA-901 was ruled out as it cannot be dismantled and therefore could not be transported into the room as already mentioned) and the Yamaha NU-1X (hybrid) which was not an option for the same reasons as the Kawai CA-901. In terms of price, I was already well above what I wanted to afford for sensible reasons, as I don't know for sure whether I'll still be active in a year's time and therefore wanted to adjust the financial burden accordingly.
Incidentally, I didn't like any of the other "high-priced" Yamaha electric pianos at all as far as the keyboard was concerned, they were all too stiff for me (even with the option of adjusting the stiffness of the keys afterwards, which would be possible), but the sound immediately won me over and I still love it today. To be fair, I have to say that Kawai is absolutely on a par in terms of quality and sound, but the CFX grand piano sound from Yamaha simply captivated me more, which is of course a matter of taste!
Now it got really exciting, as the choice became very manageable. Now I had to make a decision between the Casio GP-510 (price approx. 3500,-€ and the Yamaha YDP-145 for approx. 850,-€)
The Casio GP-510 was and is my absolute favorite, the keyboard is a dream (construction similar to that of a grand piano and unbeatable playability) and the 3 grand piano sounds (Bechstein/Berlin Grand, Bösendorfer/Vienna Grand and the Steinway/Hamburg Grand) are all convincing. In the end, however, the affordable price of the Yamaha YDP-145 made it a realistic decision for me. If I now realize that I am ambitious and continue to develop, then in 1 to 2 years it will definitely be the Casio GP-510 after all
But the Yamaha is absolutely convincing (considering the price), the sound is wonderfully soft and brilliant, the keyboard works absolutely great on my fingers, great playing feel from soft to powerful responds to my movements, the volume can also be accentuated without any problems.
The speakers/volume is more than sufficient for my room (approx. 18m²) and it sounds excellent. Placed not quite against the wall - approx. 10cm away from the wall - the sweet, charming sound of the Yamaha CFX grand piano is simply wonderful. It's also a visual eye-catcher (I have the rosewood version with a matching bench) and setting it up is really child's play and takes about 10 minutes.
Of course, it's clear and logical that a real upright/grand piano works and sounds very differently, but the Yamaha YDP-145 is still a lot of fun to play and it's much more than just a cheap-sounding keyboard.
I can recommend it without reservation and for those who are a little more advanced and have been playing for a while (and have the necessary spare cash or are prepared to spend it), I would recommend the Casio GP-301/501 as my absolute favorite, the keyboard is absolutely fantastic and unrivalled among electric pianos.
