Korg

Korg at Kirstein

Korg was founded in Japan in 1963 and has focused on electronic musical instruments and music technology ever since. The brand combines a variety of concepts, including classic analog sound generation, digital synthesis, wavetable and FM-based approaches, sequencing and extensive workstation functions. This is also reflected in the current range available at Kirstein. Alongside compact instruments for electronic music, you can find powerful keyboards and workstations, digital and stage pianos as well as practical devices for practising and music production.

Which Korg products are right for you?

For sound design and electronic music, Korg synthesizers form a particularly versatile part of the range. Volca models are compact instruments with different focuses covering synthesis, basslines, drums and sequencing. The minilogue xd combines analog sound generation with a digital Multi Engine, while modwave models focus on wavetable synthesis. The multi/poly uses analog modeling and is aimed at musicians looking for extensive sound-design possibilities. This makes it possible to combine very different synthesis approaches within a Korg setup.

If you are looking for an instrument with an extensive sound library and functions for stage or production use, Kronos and Nautilus offer powerful workstation concepts. These instruments are particularly interesting when you want a wide range of sounds, performance functions and sequencing options available centrally from one keyboard. When choosing a model, it is worth considering keyboard size, playing feel, the sounds you need and whether the instrument will primarily be used in the studio or for live performance.

Korg digital pianos and stage pianos

Korg also offers different instrument concepts for pianists. In the digital pianos category, models such as the B2+ or LP-380U address different requirements in terms of setup, keyboard and features. If you need a portable instrument for rehearsals and gigs, it is also worth comparing the stage pianos. For practising at home, the keyboard, built-in speaker system, headphone connections and a suitable pedal solution are particularly relevant. For frequent transport, weight, dimensions and connectivity become more important.

Korg Pa Series for entertainers and live musicians

The Pa Series belongs to the entertainer and arranger keyboard segment and combines keyboard sounds with automatic accompaniment, styles and performance functions. Models such as the Pa5X are aimed at musicians who want to accompany songs on their own or in small line-ups while managing different setups directly from the instrument. Before buying, consider the keyboard size you prefer, the styles and sounds you need and the connections required for your stage setup.

Korg for beats, MIDI and mobile production

Korg is not limited to traditional keyboard instruments. Compact controllers such as the nanoKEY Studio can be found among the MIDI master keyboards and are suitable for controlling software instruments and mobile production setups. For rhythm-focused production, Korg offers instruments such as the drumlogue alongside other drum computers. Volca models can also be integrated effectively into compact electronic setups. This lets you build a system step by step using synthesizers, a drum machine, controllers and a computer.

From practising to the stage

The Korg range also includes tuners and metronomes. This means the brand appeals not only to producers and synthesizer enthusiasts, but also to instrumentalists looking for practical tools for rehearsals and lessons. The key consideration is therefore less about choosing one particular product category and more about your workflow: a compact Volca setup has very different requirements from a digital piano in the living room, a Pa workstation on stage or an extensive synthesizer rig in the studio.
