Korg Multi/Poly Module - Virtually Analog, Redefined!

Inspired by the legendary KORG Mono/Poly, the KORG multi/poly Analog Modeling Synthesizer delivers impressive virtually analog sounds that offer outstanding flexibility thanks to powerful digital technology. Shortly after its launch, the multi/poly was celebrated by many international voices as one of the best synthesizers of the year.

Compact Synth, Limitless Possibilities!

KORG is now proud to present the multi/poly module: all the stunning sounds and features of the multi/poly in a compact 19" desktop/rack package! With support for the MIDI 2.0 Property Exchange standard and polyphonic aftertouch, the multi/poly module forms a perfect team with the KORG Keystage MIDI keyboard.

Of course, it is fully compatible with the sounds of the multi/poly native software as well as the growing number of outstanding third-party sound libraries, allowing you to continually expand with fresh, trendy sounds. The new 19" rack-format housing offers the same controls as the keyboard version (except for the pitch-bend and modulation wheels), but is even easier to transport and fits perfectly into any studio or desktop production ecosystem.

Next-Generation Analog Modeling

The multi/poly module is equipped with newly designed, incredibly authentic-sounding filters and oscillators – but its advanced analog modeling goes much deeper! Each voice features its own virtual voice cards that emulate the natural variations of analog hardware components from oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and portamento circuits. As a result, every single voice has a slightly different character, producing naturally sounding, full tones. The intensity of these variations can be adjusted individually for each sound.

Just like in an analog synthesizer, these voice cards continue running even when not audible. For example, envelopes keep running so that when playing a pad sound with a long release phase, newly played notes pick up the envelope at its current point instead of starting from the beginning. Oscillators and LFOs maintain their phases, and resonance continues to fade out. The pitch of individual oscillators can also change over time, recreating the subtle pitch fluctuations known from analog hardware.

Authentic Envelopes & VCAs

Envelopes are often an overlooked factor contributing to the unique sounds of vintage synthesizers. The multi/poly module includes envelope presets from the Mono/Poly, MS-20, as well as other presets like "Mini", "Pro", "ARP Odyssey" and more. Additionally, analog VCAs do not respond uniformly to voltages and have different thresholds for switching on and off, which significantly influences the character of the amplifier envelope. For this reason, the multi/poly module offers modeled VCA behaviors from the Mono/Poly, MS-20, plus presets for "Mini", "Pro", "ARP Odyssey" and a linear variant.

Have you ever tried to replicate the portamento effect from your favorite song but failed to find the right setting, even when switching between "constant value" and "constant time"? Classic analog synthesizers had different approaches to portamento, so the multi/poly module provides six different portamento models to choose from.

Support for MIDI 2.0 Property Exchange and Polyphonic Aftertouch

All multi/poly models, whether hardware or software, support the MIDI 2.0 Property Exchange standard and provide easy access to polyphonic aftertouch, making them ideal partners for the KORG Keystage MIDI 2.0 keyboard!

Use in Rack or on Studio Desk

Thanks to its clever design, the multi/poly module can be used both in a 19" rack and as a desktop module. The control panel has been redesigned to fit into a standard 19" rack, and the rear connection panel is recessed so that connected cables remain easily accessible even when other devices are mounted directly above the module. When used on a studio desk, the side panels can be attached at two different angles: a shallower angle for standing performances or a steeper angle for working while seated.
