Equipped with a delay effect and a sequencer and offering the expressive sonic palette typical of analog synths, it's primed for playful, innovative sound creation and, thanks to its straightforward layout, ideal for beginners.

Three Fully Analog Synthesizers

With the volca series, KORG introduces a line of instruments that follow in the footsteps of analog synthesizers like the MS-20, monotron and monotribe. volca is a new series for electronic music production with four models to date: volca keys, volca bass, volca beats and, most recently, the volca sample. These powerful yet easy-to-use synths deliver an arsenal of fat sounds: volca beats, volca bass and volca keys are, despite their small size, three fully analog synthesizers!

Each volca also comes equipped with a sequencer and recorder so you can intuitively and quickly create full performances. Multiple volcas can be easily chained together thanks to the classic Sync In/Out jacks, and you can connect your DAW or MIDI keyboard via MIDI. Optional battery power and the built-in speaker provide unlimited mobility.

Polyphonic Performance

Simple 3-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synth

With 3 VCOs, 1 VCF, 1 VCA, 1 LFO and 1 EG, volca keys features a clear, flexible architecture. Its ability to generate rich, powerful sounds with just a handful of parameters has always defined analog synthesizers. The three oscillators offer endless possibilities: you can play chords, run them in unison with slight detune for big solos, or use added ring modulation to create eccentric metallic tones. If you want to learn sound design from the ground up, volca keys is indispensable.

Voicing Function For Effortless Sound Creation

The Voicing function controls how the three oscillators are combined. With a single knob turn you select one of six combinations: Poly, Unison, Octave, Fifth, Unison Ring or Poly Ring. That lets you produce a wide spectrum of tones despite the simple layout.

Delay Effect For Even More Sound Options

The delay effect on volca keys is essential for "spacey" synth sounds. Like analog tape-echo units, changing the delay time can, for example, modulate the pitch.

Simple & Highly Flexible Loop Sequencer

Loop Sequencer For Recording Phrases While Playing

With up to 16 steps, the loop sequencer lets you record your performance directly on the touch panel. Spontaneous phrase ideas can be developed into complex, "unplayable" loops with overdubs, and up to eight sequence patterns can be stored in internal memory.

Motion Sequence Function For Precisely Refining Loops

The Motion Sequence function records knob movements and varies sounds over time to refine loops and dramatically enhance live performances.

Active Step And Flux Functions For Dynamic Sequencing

The Active Step function lets you skip a step during sequence playback to create shortened loops, irregular rhythms and other effects. The resulting dynamic performances sound like spontaneously played sequences. The Flux function allows phrase playback without step quantization, producing loops with unique grooves.

Convenience Features For Greater Usability

Self-Tuning Function

Volca keys solves the long-standing problem of pitch instability in analog synthesizers—caused by temperature changes and other factors—with a self-tuning function. Because the oscillators are continuously adjusted, correct tuning is ensured immediately after power-up and throughout the entire performance.

SYNC And MIDI IN Jack For Synchronizing Multiple Units Including DAW

The Sync jack synchronizes playback between multiple volcas and monotribes. With the "SyncKontrol" iPhone app you can even control Tap Tempo, Swing and sync playback of iOS music apps wirelessly via WIST. Via MIDI IN, volca keys can be synced to other gear or played from a MIDI keyboard. You can also send note data from a DAW and use volca keys as an analog sound module.
