McGrey E-208LAB Active Line Array Battery Column System

Powerful Sound in a Slim Design!

When it comes to PA, solo artists and small acoustic combos prize easy transport, fast setup, convincing sound and a discreet look. McGrey's slim column system brings all these advantages together in a compact, powerful-sounding package.

Assembled in Seconds

The E-208LAB consists of four components: a subwoofer, two spacer sections and a full-range line-array column. These four parts simply plug into each other, with the signal for the tweeter routed through the spacer sections. The entire setup takes less than a minute!

For One or More

The column system offers an XLR and a 1/4" jack input, where input sensitivity can be set via a Mic/Line switch. That makes it possible to run a dynamic microphone and an instrument directly, or to combine multiple signals via a mixer and feed them to the E-208LAB.

Flexible Plug-In System

The E-208LAB can be operated without, with one or with both spacer sections. Whether you're on a raised stage, at floor level in front of seated listeners or facing standing crowds, the E-208LAB adapts perfectly to the local conditions.

Independent From Mains Power

The E-208LAB features a permanently installed, rechargeable lead-acid battery with a capacity of 7000 mAh. This independence from mains power is a huge advantage, especially for street musicians or outdoor parties. When the subwoofer is connected to a power outlet, the battery begins charging automatically — no separate charger is required. Five LEDs on the rear indicate the current charge level. Depending on volume, battery life is a solid 4 to 8 hours!

Rich Sound

With an effective power of 100 Watts (200 Watts peak), the subwoofer with its 8" driver and the four full-range drivers deliver an exceptionally clear and powerful sound experience, producing punchy bass, high speech intelligibility and a balanced tonal image. Thanks to the extremely wide dispersion angle, even audience members positioned to the sides fully benefit. The vertical arrangement of the drivers means volume drops much less with distance than with conventional systems, resulting in very homogeneous sound coverage throughout the room.

Because the small full-range drivers have very low mass, they can react extremely quickly to incoming signals, which leads to significantly fewer distortions and harmonic clipping of the original sound compared with typical multi-way boxes. Likewise, there is no frequency splitting in the critical range for many instruments — and especially for vocals and speech — which would otherwise inevitably cause further timbral distortions and often irregularities in dispersion. As a result, the overall sound is much more natural and pleasant than that of common multi-way speakers, which is particularly noticeable with voices and acoustic instruments.

Integrated Media Player with Bluetooth

The control panel is located on the rear of the subwoofer and includes a full media player. It doesn't matter whether music files are on USB or SD. Of course, any conventional playback device (e.g. smartphone or laptop) can also be connected via the aux input. For wireless streaming the E-208LAB also includes a Bluetooth receiver. If you pair the system via Bluetooth with a second optional E-208LAB, you even get true wireless stereo sound.

Easily Expandable

Whether you plug a microphone directly into the PA or the signal comes from a mixer — with the Line Out you can route your signal to additional column systems. Depending on the size of the event, this gives you an even more uniform sound distribution.

Save Yourself the Monitoring

Because the E-208LAB is extremely feedback-resistant, it can easily be placed behind the performers. That saves you additional monitor speakers — and therefore space, time, money and weight. And it also looks much better.
