For all lovers of Celtic (and naturally other) music, the 19-string Celtic Harp from Classic Cantabile offers a feel-good sound for everyone.

Typical Design

Characteristic of the Celtic harp is the typically curved shape of the column, as also found on the Irish coat of arms. The ash wood hook harp has a range of 2.5 octaves (f - c³).

Tuning

The 19 strings are tuned diatonically in E-flat major, with the blue and red strings indicating where the notes C and F are located. By lifting the respective hooks, the harp can quickly be retuned to another key, allowing great flexibility when playing with others. For initial attempts and easier understanding, a C tuning is also possible. Two tuning keys are used to tune the instrument: the square key is applied to the tuning pegs, while the hex key is used for the fine tuners on the opposite side.

Lever Mechanism

The special mechanism of this harp makes it a versatile companion in various keys. Each individual string is equipped with a half-tone lever, which when engaged raises the pitch of the respective string by a half step. This way, you are prepared for every sharp key with just a few quick adjustments.

To avoid transport damage, the harp is shipped with levers folded up. Therefore, all are first folded down so that all strings can vibrate freely. In this state, the harp is then tuned to E-flat major, and it is perfectly normal that the strings need regular retuning during the first few weeks. Once the strings have stretched sufficiently, the tuning will hold much longer.
