For all fans of Celtic (and naturally other) music, the 29-string Celtic Harp from Classic Cantabile offers a feel-good sound for everyone.

Typical Design

Characteristic of the Celtic harp is the typically curved shape of the column, as also found on the Irish coat of arms. The hook harp made of ash has a range of 4 octaves (c-c4).

Tuning

The 29 strings are tuned diatonically in E-flat major, with the blue and red strings indicating where the notes C and F are located. By flipping up the respective hooks, the harp can quickly be retuned to another key, allowing you to play very flexibly with others. For initial attempts and easier understanding, a C tuning is also possible. Two tuning keys are used to tune the instrument: the square key is applied to the tuning pegs, while the hex key is used for the fine tuners on the opposite side.

Lever Mechanism

The special mechanism of this harp makes it a versatile companion in various keys. Each individual string is equipped with a half-step lever, which when engaged raises the pitch of the respective string by a semitone. This way, you are prepared for all sharp keys with just a few simple moves.

To avoid transport damage, the harp is shipped with levers flipped up. Therefore, all are first flipped down so that all strings can vibrate freely. In this state, the harp is then tuned to C major, and it is completely normal for the strings to require regular retuning during the first weeks. Once the strings have sufficiently stretched, the tuning will hold much longer.
