The new Responsive Hammer III (RHIII) mechanism features various grand piano mechanism characteristics essential for replicating a realistic movement. Thanks to precise triple sensor technology, the player experiences a very natural playing feel. Different weighting zones create an authentic grand piano sensation.
Additionally, weights are integrated into all keys, and the hammer weighting has been recalculated to achieve an even better balance between pronounced fortissimo and fatigue-free playing with perfect control in pianissimo.
Furthermore, the ES920 digital piano features Kawai's Ivory Touch key surfaces, which absorb finger moisture with their ivory-like properties, providing the player with a grippy surface and thus excellent playing control. With the integrated Virtual Technician function, the tonal character of these acoustic piano sounds can be easily modified. For example, you can adjust the intensity of string and damper resonance or the noise of the hammer return. Such personal settings can then be enhanced with a reverb effect that adds additional spatial depth to the sound.
Wide Selection of Additional Sounds
In addition to the realistic acoustic piano sounds, the ES920 offers an extensive selection of sounds such as electric piano, drawbar or church organ, strings, or choir, enabling the player to perform a wide variety of genres.
The dual mode allows simultaneous playing of two different sounds (e.g., grand piano and strings) on the keyboard, while the split or four-hand mode divides the keyboard into left and right zones. The respective volume balance can be quickly and easily adjusted at the touch of a button.

The ES920 model is equipped with USB ports that not only allow you to exchange MIDI data with a connected computer. For example, you can also save data directly to a USB storage device or load data from a storage device directly into the instrument.
This USB to Device functionality allows saving registration slots and songs (stored in the ES920's internal memory) onto an external storage device or playing back MIDI files (SMF) stored on it directly with the instrument, without additional hardware.
