Kawai K-200 - The Modern Instrument for the Whole Family!
The new design and the revised sound concept of the K-200 impress from the very first chord. The Millennium III action with ABS carbon parts responds to every nuance of the touch, while the solid soundboard made of selected spruce delivers the warm, rounded tone of this instrument. The K-200 is the ideal instrument for family use and private lessons.
Optimal Touch
The feel of the touch is the key to success, inspiration, and artistry. A precise, consistent touch is a hallmark of Kawai.
The Power of Pianissimo
One of the most coveted attributes of a piano is dynamic balance—the ability to play not only powerful fortissimo but also delicate, expressive pianissimo. The technical edge of the Millennium III piano action is most evident in its extraordinary ability to produce a perfect pianissimo. It almost sounds strange when Kawai says that pianos impress most when they whisper softly. The revolutionary Millennium III piano action is the secret behind the precisely responsive touch of the Kawai K series.
Millennium III Piano Action
The Millennium III action contains parts made from ABS carbon, a composite material combining Kawai's patented ABS styrene compound with carbon fibers. ABS carbon is very durable and stable. This allows the action parts to be made lighter without sacrificing strength and stability. The result is a harder, faster action that offers better power transfer, precise control, and greater stability than conventional wooden actions.
Dual Aluminum Hammer Rail
The action rail is the backbone of the mechanism. Kawai's action rail is made from permanently extruded aluminum with a unique "dual-rail" design for extreme strength and stability.
Die-Cast Action Bracket
Die-cast parts are always formed identically from a custom mold. The K series pianos feature three aluminum action brackets made by die-cast process to ensure additional strength and consistent stability over a long period.
ABS Carbon Action Parts
Using ABS carbon makes the action parts incredibly robust. ABS carbon is much stronger than wood and nearly resistant to changes caused by environmental influences and humidity. This unique combination of strength and stability allows power transfer with virtually no energy loss. Using ABS carbon provides pianists with a unique playing feel.
Exceptional Sound
Tradition and technology are indispensable elements of piano sound. Tradition lays the foundation for Kawai's distinctive tonal character. Applied technology gives it a lively, broad depth that continues from generation to generation.
Mahogany Hammer Core & T-Clamped, Double-Felted Hammers
Mahogany hammer cores are light and therefore responsive. Like the finest grand pianos, the hammer parts of the K series are made from mahogany. All K series hammers are T-clamped to maintain shape and are additionally padded with an extra felt layer to achieve exceptional sustain.
Tuning Pins
The tuning pins of the K series are made of high-quality steel, with finely machined threads to achieve maximum bidirectional torque. Nickel plating ensures a beautiful appearance and long-term corrosion protection.
Soundboard Rim
The rim bars of the soundboard make the lingering parts of the soundboard similar to the contours of a grand piano soundboard, as the sound energy is reflected back to the center to achieve optimal sound strength.
A Strong, Balanced Bracing Construction
The K series construction is extremely strong to ensure tonal and touch stability over the years. All models feature a soundboard with multi-laminated braces and a cast plate developed and manufactured by Kawai in-house. This construction guarantees a stable, well-balanced bracing structure that easily absorbs string tension and thus provides a solid foundation for excellent sound.
Tapered Solid Spruce Soundboard
The soundboard is the heart of a grand piano. Its purpose is to transform string vibrations into a rich, full tone. Kawai exclusively uses spruce with tight growth rings. Each soundboard is tapered to maximize its sound-producing capacity. Only soundboards that meet or exceed Kawai's high standards are installed in their pianos.
Attractive Design
The K series models impress with clean lines and tasteful accents that add extra shine to the modern elegance of any room. The combination of elegant form and rich, full vibrant sound will surely enhance the atmosphere of any space.
Wide Music Desk
The music desk of the K series is built into the fallboard and measures one meter in length on models K-600, K-500, K-300, and K-200. This allows multiple music books or exercise books to be placed side by side.
Brass Pedals
Kawai's innovative casting process binds molten brass around a robust steel core, creating solid, beautifully shaped pedals that are protected against wear over the years.
The Timeless Beauty of the Piano
Modern design brightens the room. A design born from the interplay of new ideas and cutting-edge technology, built with the highest precision. With its clean lines, the K series gains a simple yet distinctive character that captivates through its beauty.
Soft-Fall Fallboard
The slowly closing "Soft-Fall" system protects both the pianist's hands and the piano surface from damage caused by unbraked falling fallboards.
High-Quality Piano Bench
Classic Cantabile piano benches offer not only a high-quality look but also premium features such as sturdy legs with non-slip rubber, a smooth, precise spindle mechanism for height adjustment, and a durable, extra-large 55 x 32 cm comfortable seat covered with easy-care cord fabric. The cushion can be easily removed if needed. The solid wood construction ensures stable support and a load capacity of up to 120 kg.
Piano Method
Every beginning is easy—this motto also applies to the new edition of Michael Christoph's piano method. Anyone afraid that piano is too difficult to learn definitely needs this method. It introduces the instrument to beginners in a playful, relaxed way. Starting with familiar, simple melodies and progressing to two-handed playing of complete songs, it also conveys some theory knowledge along the way. Reading notes, rhythm, dynamics, and much more are covered alongside the exercises. Additionally, the simple exercises guarantee quick learning success.

Questions about product
Question by Weichelt on 29.12.2020
Is this instrument suitable for underfloor heating?
Answer by Musikhaus Kirstein:
Pianos and underfloor heating do not get along optimally. The rising, warm drafts (supported in the piano by the chimney drafts) have a direct effect on the material. In this case, the risk of damage is very high (for example, cracks in the soundboard and soundpost). If your instrument is located in a room with underfloor heating, you should in any case regularly check the factors for the correct room climate and have the instrument tuned regularly.
