The CA401 model features the new Grand Feel Compact action with wooden keys, which—thanks to Kawai’s 90 years of piano-building experience—offers an exceptionally realistic playing feel. All 88 keys are made entirely from long wooden parts, with the white keys coated in Ivory Touch to optimize playing control.

Each of the 88 keys moves smoothly on a balance rail, just like on an acoustic grand piano. Thanks to the long keys (especially the length from the front edge to the balance rail pin), playing in the rear part of the keys is eased. The Grand Feel Compact keyboard action features graded hammer weighting, counterweights in the bass section, and a let-off simulation. Additionally, the triple sensor system ensures optimal repetition and playing control.

The CA401 digital piano now offers the outstanding sound of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand as a Competition Grand. This unique instrument is used exclusively for international competitions and is prized for its tonal clarity, frequently appearing on stages of concert halls and music institutions.

All 88 keys of this exceptional grand piano model were meticulously recorded and analyzed. The unique character of each note and the wide dynamic range allow pianists to express their emotional playing—from soft pianissimo to powerful fortissimo.

OLED Display with Easy Operation

The highly readable OLED display simplifies operation. All functions can be accessed via the redesigned control panel and OLED display. No operation via the keyboard is necessary.

Additional Features

The powerful lesson function in the CA401 supports aspiring pianists in learning piano through an integrated collection of typical piano lesson etudes by Czerny, Burgmüller, or Beyer, as well as the well-known Alfred piano courses. Each exercise title can be played back with variable tempo and individual playback of the left or right hand before being recorded together with the player’s own performance for self-assessment. A four-hand mode, allowing simultaneous playing by teacher and student at the same octave, is also included.

An intuitive recording function is found in all CA series models. The recorder in the CA401 has a maximum recording capacity of approximately 10,000 notes. Up to 3 songs can be recorded.

SHS Headphone System

Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) is a special feature of the new CA401 that gives the acoustic piano sound more spatial depth over headphones and additionally improves the listening experience over longer periods.

In addition to the USB-to-host connection, the CA401 is also equipped with Bluetooth MIDI technology, enabling wireless communication with smart devices (e.g., smartphone or tablet). This gives you the ability to comfortably use a wide range of music-related apps such as the Kawai PianoRemote app or the PiaBookPlayer app in conjunction with your CA401 digital piano.

Or simply use the Bluetooth Audio interface. Just connect your smartphone to the CA401 and enjoy all your music directly through the CA401’s speaker system. This is especially recommended for play-along.

Adjustable Music Rest

The angle of the music rest can be adjusted—like on a grand piano—to suit the player’s position. If needed, the music rest of the CA series can also be laid completely flat. The new music rest pins effectively prevent sheet music from slipping.

Grand Feel Pedal System

The CA401 is equipped with the Grand Feel Pedal System. This Kawai-developed system replicates the resistance when operating the three pedals (sustain, soft, and sostenuto) to match the pedal feel of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand. Proper pedal positioning has also been carefully considered.

The Pronomic KH-900 is a professional stereo headphone that combines excellent sound characteristics with maximum wearing comfort at a budget-friendly price.
