However, we actually recommend the variant with a plastic mouthpiece for children, especially with regard to playing-in time and care. A recorder with a wooden mouthpiece must be played in evenly and carefully so that the wood does not swell or become hoarse over time.
Plastic recorders do not need to be played in and the mouthpiece can be washed out with warm water.
In terms of sound, wood and plastic are absolutely comparable, especially for beginners.
