The Lechgold CF-24 child’s bassoon is a lightweight student bassoon in C tuning with German system keywork, ergonomically adapted mechanics and a premium maple body. Thanks to the reduced weight and simplified keywork, this bassoon is particularly suitable for young players, beginners and students. For controlled response, the set includes the handmade AS bassoon reed in Light strength by Arnolds & Sons. An acrylic resonator, silver-plated keywork, high-quality pads from Italy and the practical lightweight case complete the thoughtfully put-together package.
Child-Friendly Keywork With Reduced Weight
The CF-24 was specially tailored to the ergonomic needs of younger bassoonists. The reduced keywork contributes to the low instrument weight of 2.5 kg and eases handling in lessons and daily practice. F and G# rollers for the right-hand little finger support comfortable finger motion. Because of the simplified construction, the student bassoon has a reduced range compared with a fully equipped bassoon.
Maple Body And German System
The Lechgold CF-24 body is made of maple and features a high-gloss lacquer finish. The mechanism follows the German system and is silver-plated. High-quality pads from Italy complement the solid construction. The transparent acrylic resonator is an important part of the instrument design and supports a balanced tone and clean intonation. This gives the student bassoon a combination of playability, sound and reliable function tailored to beginners.
Includes AS Light Bassoon Reed
Instead of the previously offered MARCA PriMo reed, this set includes the AS bassoon reed in Light by Arnolds & Sons. The handmade double reed for bassoon in Light (soft) strength offers a pleasantly easy response with reduced effort. This makes the reed particularly suitable for beginners and students. Internationally, this accessory is also called a bassoon reed or double reed. The pairing of a child’s bassoon with an easy-speaking double reed creates good conditions for a controlled start to bassoon playing.
Practical Complete Set For Lessons And Transport
The accessories include the AS double reed, a hand rest, an S-bocal and a separate pouch for the delicate bassoon reed. For secure transport there is a lightweight case with adjustable backpack straps. This lets you carry the instrument comfortably to music school, rehearsal or lessons while keeping the accessories organized.

Without the plastic extension, the instrument would unfortunately not intonate correctly. The resonator is an essential part of the construction to ensure that the bassoon is in tune.
2. playability for adults:
Of course, the instrument can also be played by adults. Please note, however, that the CF-24 has a reduced range, as some keys have been deliberately omitted in both the low and high ranges in order to keep the weight and size suitable for children.
So if you are looking for a particularly light and compact bassoon with a limited range, this model would be suitable.
