The S.E. Shires TBQ36GR is a professional bass trombone (bass trombone) in Bb/F/Gb with a .562" bore (14.27 mm) and a large 9.5" bell (241.3 mm). The two-piece brass bell with a soldered rim is engineered for projection and stability - producing a centered tonal image across all registers. The independent F/Gb rotary valves support secure valve positioning without sacrificing comfort or clarity.
Bell & Tone Character
The two-piece brass bell (Yellow Brass = brass) in a medium-weight design delivers a defined core with controlled spread. The soldered rim provides additional structural stability and supports a carrying, focused bass-trombone tone - ideal for orchestra, symphonic band, big band and studio.
Valve System: Independent F/Gb Rotary
The independent F/Gb rotary valves allow flexible combinations for intonation, slide positions and alternate ranges. That gives you direct, reliable response when working the valve register - an advantage for low passages, fast changes and precise articulation.
Slide & Play Feel (Q62)
The Q62 outer slide is executed in standard-weight brass and features a crook made of nickel silver (Nickel-Silver Crook). The result is stable, controlled handling with clear feedback - especially valuable during dynamic contrasts and long tutti passages.
Leadpipes & Customization
Three interchangeable brass leadpipes (1, 2, 3) give you noticeably different resistance and response profiles. This lets you tailor the bass trombone to embouchure, repertoire and room acoustics - from direct projection to smoother airflow.
Finish & Compatibility
The clear lacquer finish protects the surface and preserves the characteristic brass look. The model is also compatible with the S.E. Shires Custom Series and thus provides a strong foundation for a long-term, consistent setup.
