No clarinet or saxophone plays without a mouthpiece and reed. Strictly speaking, the mouthpiece is the crucial part, as it forms the so-called sound generator, also called the tone generator by acousticians. The beautiful, expensive clarinet made of fine wood and the silver-plated or gold-lacquered shining saxophone are - physically speaking - "only" the resonators.
So the mouthpiece and reed deliver the primary sound waves, to which the instrument then responds, similar to a well-tuned transmitter. So: without a good mouthpiece (and equally good reed), nothing works at all.
Clarinet Mouthpiece Böhm - RCR.3
In collaboration with Claus Raumberger, music journalist and author of "The Saxophone," the range of clarinet mouthpieces was expanded. The result is the RCR.3
The "RCR.3" facing delivers a strong, dark tone with voluminous depth, rounded head tones, and a powerful clarinet register. The embouchure should be mature, as stronger reeds are recommended.
This way even an affordable instrument sounds like a master instrument!
