Kirstein Clarinet Mouthpiece Student with Ligature - German!
No clarinet or saxophone plays without a mouthpiece and reed. Strictly speaking, the mouthpiece is the crucial part, as it forms the so-called sound generator, also known as the tone generator by acousticians. The beautiful, expensive clarinet made of fine wood and the silver-plated or gold-lacquered shiny saxophone are - physically speaking - "only" the resonators.
Mouthpiece and reed thus produce the primary sound waves to which the instrument will respond, much like a well-tuned transmitter. So: without a good mouthpiece (and equally good reed), nothing works at all.
German Clarinet Mouthpiece - W5A
The bestseller is the "W5A" with a 0.90 mm opening and a 20.0 mm facing length, which is an exceptionally professional mouthpiece. Its character: a dark, rich tone with - as Claus Raumberger, music journalist and author of "The Saxophone," noted - remarkable register colors. It has a light response and is not very sensitive to reed changes.
This is how even an affordable instrument sounds like a master instrument!
