Sequencing

The FANTOM is a comprehensive musical composition platform. The focus is on quickly achieving results and fluidly creating arrangements. Options include RGB pads, a classic TR-REC pattern sequencer, real-time recording including piano-roll editor, and a matrix for saving and playing clips. Use any or all options whenever you want.

Connectivity

The FANTOM is a powerful instrument on its own. Combined with other gear and equipment, like a computer or analog synthesizers, its possibilities grow nearly infinitely. The FANTOM allows control of software synthesizers directly via the integrated touchscreen and can drive modular and analog synthesizers via the two CV/Gate outputs. It also functions as a high-quality audio interface with up to 16 stereo outputs and three stereo inputs.

The Roland Fantom is a new concept of a synthesizer that is continuously evolving.

Usually, synthesizers are designed with largely fixed internal software, and updates and expansions are only limitedly possible. The Roland Fantom, however, is designed to be equipped with new functions and technologies over time, which are made available via the Roland Cloud platform.

The Roland Fantom is equipped with four Behaviour Modelling Core (BMC) processors. The enormous power of these processors allows simultaneous use of high-quality sound engines such as V-Piano, Zen-Core, Virtual Tonewheel Organ, SuperNatural, Model Expansions, and Multi-Sampling.

The Fantom belongs to the Roland Zen-Core-compatible instruments, enabling sounds created on the Fantom to be imported into other Zen-Core-compatible instruments (such as the Jupiter-X and Zenology PRO software). This elevates the possibility of exchanging sounds to a new level.

The internal processors operate at very high speed; all functions, sounds, and expansions are available within less than 40 seconds after powering on.

The user interface is clear and easy to understand. The large, color touchscreen allows direct access to sounds and parameters, and the hardware controllers are high-resolution (1024 steps), enabling very fine parameter adjustments.

The Fantom is phenomenally fast when it comes to capturing your own musical ideas. The pattern sequencer and TR-REC function ensure a fast workflow. Recordings are saved together with the sounds and can be recalled directly as a scene.

For musicians and producers using software products in the studio or for concerts, the Fantom offers luxurious software integration for DAW programs like Ableton Live, Logic Pro-X, and Mainstage.
