2 channels and separate control

The CDJ-230 consists of two units: a 2U player with connections for CD, USB and SD, plus a 2U control unit used to operate the system. The two sections are connected by two 1.3 m control cables, which also supply power to the control unit. This setup allows the controller to be mounted separately from the CD unit at a more ergonomic height. As each channel features its own phono output, two different rooms can even be supplied separately, which is particularly useful in hospitality settings.

Wide range of media options

In addition to audio CDs and MP3 CDs, SD cards and USB sticks can also be used as audio sources for maximum flexibility. With fast access to large music libraries across different storage media, you have extensive playback options at your fingertips.

Extra-large play and cue buttons

The two large cue buttons let you jump to a preset point at any time, so each track can start exactly where you want it to. The cue point can be set with frame accuracy using the play/pause buttons and jog wheels.

Jog wheels

The two smooth-running jog wheels can be used in a variety of ways. As an alternative to a platter, they allow temporary pitch changes or convincing scratch simulations. They also make frame-accurate cue positioning simple and precise.

Pitch control

To match two consecutive tracks cleanly, the CDJ-230 offers several pitch control options:

• The 46 mm faders allow you to select a fixed pitch range. The range can be set to ±4, 8 or 16 percent. Alternatively, pressing and holding the "Pitch" button disables both faders completely.
• Short-term pitch bends can be created easily using the "+" and "-" buttons or the large jog wheels. As soon as you release them, playback returns to the original tempo.

These pitch bend options make it easier to match two tracks precisely.

Seamless loop and reloop

With seamless A/B playback, you can loop the best parts of a track without audible gaps. The loop can then be reactivated at any time using the "Reloop" button.

DSP effects

To add extra variation to your mix, two DSP effects are available: "Brake" and "Reverse". Brake mode simulates the slow stopping and restarting of a turntable, while Reverse plays the track backwards.

Search function via jog dial

All tracks on a CD or storage medium can be selected quickly and conveniently using a single dial. Searches can be carried out by track as well as by folder.

Display and indicators

Each channel features a backlit LCD showing all key information:

• The file format of the current track
• Single or continuous play mode (in single mode, playback stops after each track; in continuous mode, all tracks play one after another)
• A 10-segment bar display showing how much of the current track has elapsed
• Frame-accurate (75 fps) display of elapsed or remaining time
• The current pitch setting via fader
• ID3 tag name of the current track
• Repeat Off/1/All
• Loop mode (A-B Repeat)

Programmable playlist

If required, a playlist of up to 20 songs can be programmed. After all, even the best DJ sometimes needs a short break.

Rack installation

With a width of 482 mm, the CDJ-230 can be installed in any standard 19" rack. Mobile DJs benefit from being able to mount their equipment securely in a case. As both units are fitted with feet, freestanding use is also possible.
