Powerful Hybrid Amplifier for Demanding Hi-Fi!

The Advance Paris A12 Classic is a powerful hybrid integrated amplifier that blends the tonal character of a tube preamp with the high power reserve of a modern dual-mono Class-AB power stage. Two ECC81/12AT7 vacuum tubes work in the preamp section while the power amp delivers up to 2 x 280 watts into 4 ohm or 2 x 190 watts into 8 ohm. High Bias, HDMI-ARC, HDMI audio, Phono MM/MC, balanced XLR connections, a TI PCM1796 DAC and an asynchronous XMOS USB-B input make the A12 Classic a versatile control center for high-quality stereo and high-end audio systems.

Hybrid Technology with Tubes and a Powerful Dual-Mono Power Stage

The A12 Classic purposefully combines two amplifier technologies. ECC81/12AT7 tubes handle signal processing in the preamp, while the powerful Class-AB power stage is built on a dual-mono topology. Two 300 VA toroidal transformers ensure stable power delivery. The stereo amplifier provides 2 x 190 watts into 8 ohm and 2 x 280 watts into 4 ohm, making the integrated amplifier suitable for demanding passive Hi-Fi speakers and larger stereo setups.

High Bias for Class-A Operation at Low Output

Advance Paris’s characteristic High-Bias circuit lets the amplifier operate in the Class-A region at lower output levels. When more power is needed, the Class-AB stage takes over. High Bias can be switched on or off at the rear panel, allowing flexible tuning to speakers, listening habits and use cases.

High-Quality DAC and Digital Hi-Res Inputs

For digital sources the A12 Classic uses a Texas Instruments PCM1796 digital-to-analog converter with a maximum specified resolution of 24 Bit / 192 kHz. The asynchronous USB-B audio input uses XMOS technology and supports playback of high-resolution files including DSD. Additionally, three coaxial digital inputs (75 ohm cinch), three optical Toslink inputs and a balanced AES/EBU input (110 ohm) are available. USB-A also supports playback of audio files in formats such as MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC and AAC.

HDMI-ARC and HDMI Audio for Modern AV Sources

With HDMI-ARC the hybrid amplifier can be conveniently connected to a compatible TV, allowing volume control via the TV remote in many setups. An additional HDMI audio input suits video and audio sources and lets you integrate the A12 Classic into modern entertainment systems without needing a traditional AV receiver.

Phono MM/MC, XLR and Flexible Analog Connections

Analog sources are comprehensively supported. In addition to cinch AUX inputs there are two balanced XLR inputs and an integrated phono preamp for MM and MC cartridges. For MM systems the input capacitance is selectable between 100 pF, 200 pF or 320 pF. Pre-Out, balanced preamp output, Amp-In and Rec-Out expand the amplifier’s flexibility even further.

Subwoofer Management and Two Speaker Pairs

Two outputs for active subwoofers provide built-in bass management with selectable crossover frequencies of 75 Hz or 125 Hz. Two speaker pairs can also be connected, making the A12 Classic suitable for classic stereo systems as well as more elaborate Hi-Fi setups with active bass reinforcement.

Flexible Headphone Amplifier and Convenient Controls

Headphone connections include a 3.5 mm and a 6.35 mm jack. Output impedance can be set between 0 ohm and 100 ohm, while gain options of +6 dB, 0 dB and -4 dB are available. Tone controls for Low, High and Loudness, a bypass function and balance control allow individual tailoring. The two characteristic blue VU meters and the visible tubes emphasize the A12 Classic’s distinctive technical presence.

Optional Bluetooth and Practical System Features

The amplifier provides a connector for the optional Advance Paris Bluetooth modules X-FTB01 and X-FTB02 for wireless streaming. An automatic standby function can be disabled or set to 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Two 3.5 mm trigger outputs also simplify control of other compatible Hi-Fi components.
