The handpan is an absolutely beginner-friendly instrument where percussion and melody come together. No prior experience or music theory knowledge is required, as all tone fields on the handpan are arranged within a fixed scale.

The Right Choice for Beginners and Advanced Players

The F2 Pygmy tuning (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is one of the best-selling scales. The central note in the middle of the handpan is F2, surrounded in a circular layout by the notes F3, G3, Ab3, C4, Eb4, F4, G4, and Ab4. Additionally, this model has 8 extra "bottom notes," meaning 8 more tone fields on the underside of the handpan. These notes—C3, Eb3, Bb3, Db4, C5, Db5, Eb5, and F5—create an earthy, warm, and mysterious tonal character.

This scale is an excellent choice for beginners because it is very intuitive to play, while also offering advanced players a wide musical range despite its rather dark timbre. With a total of 17 tone fields, it provides significantly more playing possibilities than a conventional F Pygmy handpan without bottom notes, although this also increases the difficulty level. Nevertheless, the Majesty Handpan F2 Pygmy 17 Stainless Steel is recommended not only for advanced players, as beginners can initially ignore the additional tone fields and gradually incorporate them into their melodies later.

Every Sela handpan comes with a bag made of tear-resistant nylon fabric that provides optimal protection during transport thanks to its good padding. It can be carried comfortably either by hand using the two handles or as a backpack with adjustable shoulder straps. A practical outer pocket offers enough space for small accessories like a metronome.
