Handcrafted Handpan Including Padded Bag!
The handpan is the perfect blend of percussion and melody instrument. It consists of two thin, joined stainless steel shells. During its manufacturing process, the halves are painstakingly hammered by hand. This creates dimples and a small dome in the center of the body. These areas form the different sound fields. Surrounded by a circle of 8 tones, the central note lies in the middle of the handpan. When the fields are played, bright, long-lasting sounds emerge.
Sela Majesty Stainless Steel Handpans are made from the highest quality stainless steel and are crafted entirely by hand by some of the world’s best handpan makers, then carefully tuned. They sound even better than our popular Harmony Stainless Steel models. Stainless steel handpans have a significantly longer sustain than nitrided handpans, making them especially suited for slow, relaxing, and meditative playing. At the same time, they are very low maintenance. Sela Majesty Stainless Steel Handpans feature a glossy, bronze-colored finish that gives them a very elegant, high-end, and at the same time mysterious look. Each Majesty model also comes with a handpan rope. This decorative band protects the rim of the handpan and also gives it a unique appearance.
The D Kurd tuning (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is one of our best-selling scales. The central note in the middle of the handpan is D3, with the notes A3, Bb3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, and A4 arranged in a circle around it. Additionally, this model has four extra "bottom notes," meaning four more tone fields on the underside of the handpan. These are the tones F3, G3, C5, and D5. Thanks to its bright-sounding D minor scale, the D Kurd allows for a wide variety of melodies ranging from calm and meditative to melancholic and even powerful and joyful. With a total of 13 tone fields, it offers significantly more playing possibilities than a conventional D Kurd handpan without bottom notes, although the difficulty level also increases. Still, the Majesty Handpan D Kurd 13 Stainless Steel is not only recommended for advanced players, as beginners can initially ignore the additional tone fields and gradually incorporate them into their melodies later.
Every Sela handpan comes with a bag made of tear-resistant nylon fabric, which provides optimal protection during transport thanks to its good padding. It can be carried either by hand using the two handles or comfortably as a backpack thanks to adjustable shoulder straps. A practical outer pocket offers enough space for small accessories like a metronome.
