The handpan is an extremely beginner-friendly instrument where percussion and melody come together. Playing the handpan creates soothing, spherical, and long-lasting soundscapes that captivate both the player and the listeners completely. No prior experience or music theory knowledge is required, as all tone fields on the handpan are arranged on a fixed scale.

On most models, it is impossible to strike dissonant, or "wrong" sounding notes. This allows you to follow your intuition freely while playing and quickly lose yourself in mysterious, dreamy melodies. With some practice, more complex rhythms, captivating chords, and two-voice melodies are naturally possible.

The Right Choice for Beginners and Advanced Players

The F2 Pygmy tuning (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is one of the best-selling scales. The central note in the middle of the handpan is F2, surrounded circularly by the notes F3, G3, Ab3, C4, Eb4, F4, G4, and Ab4. Additionally, this model has 8 extra "bottom notes," meaning 8 more tone fields on the underside of the handpan. These notes are C3, Eb3, Bb3, Db4, C5, Db5, Eb5, and F5, providing an earthy, warm, and mysterious tonal character.

This scale is an excellent choice for beginners because it is very intuitive to play, while also offering advanced players a wide musical range despite its rather dark timbre. With a total of 17 tone fields, it offers significantly more playing possibilities than a conventional F Pygmy handpan without bottom notes, although the difficulty level also increases. Nevertheless, the Majesty Handpan F2 Pygmy 17 Stainless Steel is recommended not only for advanced players, as beginners can initially ignore the additional tone fields and gradually incorporate them into their melodies later.

Every Sela handpan comes with a case made of tear-resistant nylon fabric, which provides optimal protection during transport thanks to its good padding. It can be carried either by hand using the two handles or comfortably worn as a backpack using adjustable shoulder straps. A practical outer pocket offers enough space for small accessories like a metronome.

Handpan Stand

The Sela handpan stand is a lightweight, foldable playing stand specially designed for handpans and percussion instruments. The height of the handpan stand is 61 cm, making it ideal for comfortable seated playing. At the same time, the stand increases freedom of movement. It can be easily and continuously adjusted in height using the attached cords.

The Kirstein microfiber cloth ensures optimal dust absorption thanks to its particularly soft and smooth surface and leaves perfectly cleaned surfaces. Even extremely delicate surfaces can be cleaned effortlessly and scratch-free with this cloth, as its edging is very fine and delicate. The Kirstein microfiber cloth is excellently suited for dry use due to its relatively low water absorption.
