As the successor to the KORG SP-250 digital piano, which set standards with its elegant design, the SP-280 impresses with an even more refined appearance. Its modern, flowing aesthetic fits into any environment and also benefits from a newly designed rear. The piano no longer has to be placed — as was often customary — against a wall; it looks great in any position and from every angle. To match the room's atmosphere, the SP-280 is available in Black and White finishes.

Natural Weighted Hammer Action Reproduces The Authentic Touch Of An Acoustic Piano

The Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) keyboard offers the same playing feel as an acoustic piano: heavier response in the bass and progressively lighter response in the treble. Every nuance of technique is reproduced precisely. The three-stage Key Touch Control function lets you define exactly how playing dynamics affect the signal output, so you can tailor the SP-280's response to your personal playing style.

Lightweight Design for Easy Transport

Because the SP-280 can be placed practically anywhere, its development also took easy transport into account. Including the stand, it weighs less than 20 kg (about 30% less than its predecessor, the SP-250).

The supplied sturdy and stylish metal stand is lightweight, simple to assemble, and takes up very little space.

Line In and Line Out Jacks

You can connect portable audio players or similar devices to the LINE IN jacks (stereo mini-jacks) and monitor them through the SP-280's speakers. You can also play along with the music and use this straightforward setup for live performances. Active speakers or recording devices can be connected to the LINE OUT jacks.

Touch Control Function

These individually selectable settings determine how the sound responds to playing dynamics and allow quick adaptation to your personal playing style.

Metronome

The built-in metronome keeps you in time — you can set time signature, tempo and volume, and emphasize accents with a bell sound.

Pedal Effects

The supplied sustain pedal works like a "half-damper" pedal. The strength of the sustain effect depends on how firmly the pedal is pressed.
Alternatively, you can connect the optional PU-2 pedal unit to add Soft and Sostenuto pedals in addition to the sustain pedal. Using three pedals, as on an acoustic piano, is recommended for piano students and professional pianists.

MIDI

The SP-280 supports the MIDI standard for transmitting control data between electronic instruments and computers. Since MIDI-connected devices can control each other, the SP-280 can also be used as a multitimbral sound module with 16 parts.
