The All-In-One Stage Piano

The MP7SE is the ultimate tool for every keyboardist. With the MP11SE's technology in the tone generator, DSP and D/A converters, and 32 of the top sounds from the MP11SE, the MP7SE delivers the same sound quality as its big brother. On top of that you get features like the virtual tonewheel organ, 129 effects and amp simulator from the MP11SE, 4 sections for internal sounds and full 4-zone master keyboard functionality.

MP7SE New Features & Improvements (compared to MP7)

  • New: Shigeru Kawai SK-EX and SK-5 grand piano sounds
  • New: Responsive Hammer III keyboard
  • New: Support for the new GFP-3 triple pedal (available as accessory)
  • New: Classic glossy black side panels (similar to the VPC1)
  • Improved: Added 'Undamped String Resonance' Virtual Technician parameter
  • Improved: Ability to use different expression pedals (ring/tip)
  • Improved: Ability to invert controllers (e.g., for morphing between two sounds)

RH3 Keyboard with Weighted Keys, Ivory Touch Keytops and Let-Off Simulation

The RH3 keyboard was engineered to authentically reproduce the delicate, natural touch of a grand piano. Its springless construction adapts the feel through moving hammers in a natural way and includes a let-off simulation. In addition, the 3-sensor system provides optimal repetition and play control. Different weighting zones recreate a true grand feel. Weights are built into every key and the hammer weighting has been precisely calculated to deliver a powerful fortissimo while keeping fatigue low and giving perfect control in pianissimo. The Ivory Touch keytops, with their ivory-like properties, absorb moisture and give the player a grippy surface for superior control and confidence.

Impressive Recordings of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX, SK-5 and Kawai EX Concert Grands with Harmonic Imaging XL and 88-Key Sampling

The MP7SE reproduces the superb tone of the Kawai concert grands SK-EX, SK-5 and EX. All 88 keys of these three extraordinary grand models were meticulously recorded and analyzed. The unique character of every single note and the wide dynamic range let the pianist express a full spectrum of emotion—from delicate pianissimo to powerful fortissimo. The integrated Virtual Technician function makes it easy to modify the tonal character of these acoustic piano sounds. For example, you can adjust the intensity of string and damper resonance or the sound of the hammer return. You can then add a reverb effect to give the tone additional spatial depth.

Great Vintage EPs, Dual Effects and Amp Simulator

The MP7SE also offers an excellent selection of vintage electric piano sounds, each with its own distinctive character. Experience their natural, organic tones or refine them with popular effects before sending the sound to one of the five classic amp models the MP7SE simulates.

Classic Tonewheel Organs with Drawbar Control and Authentic Percussion

The MP7SE's tonewheel organ simulation turns the stage piano into a vintage electromechanical organ, complete with nine real-time adjustable drawbars and authentic percussion control. Organ fans can create their own registrations, set the "aging" of the organ, tailor the rotary speaker effect to taste and save everything as one of the 256 setups. Additionally, the keyboard touch contact point can be set in three stages, so organ playing is possible even on a stage piano.

High-Quality Strings, Pads, Synths, Basses and More

Beyond realistic acoustic pianos, vintage electric pianos and tonewheel organs, the MP7SE offers a wide range of high-quality strings, pads, synths, basses and many other useful sounds. These additional voices are ideal for layering, splitting or solo performance. If the factory sounds don't cover your needs, you can shape them with flexible ADSR parameters, filters with resonance/cut-off and other controls.

Four-Zone Master Keyboard Controller

The MP7SE uses the classic MP series 4-zone concept, where each zone can be assigned an internal sound, an external MIDI channel, or both. Zones can be placed anywhere across the keyboard—split, layered or freely defined. Powerful zone-specific customization lets you set and control parameters per zone. The MP7SE becomes a perfect all-in-one performance instrument.

Intuitive Operation, Large LCD, Real-Time Controls

The MP7SE's control panel is clearly structured and easy to navigate. All functions are grouped where you'd expect them. A large LCD display and four assignable knobs allow you to change parameters directly in real time without diving into menus—you can focus on playing instead of battling awkward controls.

256 Setup Memory: More Than Enough, Even for the Most Demanding Pianist

All MP7SE settings—sounds with all edits, knob positions, etc.—can be saved as a setup and recalled at any time. 256 setup slots keep things organized and many come preloaded with common use cases.

USB-to-Device Functionality with MP3/WAV/SMF Recording and Playback

The MP7SE's USB ports not only connect to a computer but also allow direct loading and saving to USB storage devices. This lets you secure your custom sounds or setups and protects you in many live situations. USB storage can also be used to play MP3, WAV or SMF files directly. The A-B loop function makes practicing specific song sections easy. USB storage can also be used for direct recording in MP3 or WAV format, with LINE-IN also captured. This makes it simple to email audio files to bandmates, play them on an MP3 player or copy them to a computer for further work—e.g., to burn an audio CD.

The Keyboard Stand

This sturdy, versatile stand can be used for both keyboards and mixers. The support surface extends in width from 73 to 110 cm. The robust legs are individually height-adjustable.

Securely Packed

The new Classic Cantabile keyboard bags are made from especially durable, double-woven fabric. This manufacturing technique guarantees excellent tear and water resistance. The generously padded bags give your instrument top protection.

The bag can be carried by a hook-and-loop fastened handle or used as a trolley with practical wheels for easy transport. Two huge exterior pockets with dividers also provide plenty of room for sheet music and accessories.

Very good set with tiny little deficit

After some (play) time I would like to give my opinion about the set:
Preliminary: I think Kawai pianos have the best keyboard, GF (whether GFC or GF2 is almost no matter) is unbeatable, but the RH3 comes very close. the keys seem very solid, the touch is about 60 grams in the similar range as the GF keyboards and a switch from one to the other is no problem. Usually I play on a CA58 and the MP7SE is only a little bit worse.
Tone: Very solid and much better than what you get in the cheaper price ranges. The entire workmanship is extremely solid, the entire housing is a mix of solid steel plate, wooden side panels and a stable base plate. Since nothing wobbles.

So, the rest: The folding table is very stable and quick and easy to assemble and disassemble. Unfortunately it is not wide enough to fit the feet of the MP7. But that makes only slightly what, because the MP7 is very stable on the table even without the feet.
Bag: Good workmanship, MP7 fits perfectly inside, wheels are very helpful. Unfortunately, however, also here: There is no bag in which the music stand fits completely. The longest bag is about 2 cm too short. Well, then he just looks a little out.

But these are the only limitations, otherwise this is a great set at a very good price.
