The Fender American Professional Precision Bass blends one of the most influential bass concepts in music history with targeted refinements for professional use. More than seven decades of Precision Bass tradition form the foundation of this instrument, while Fender avoids needlessly altering the familiar P-Bass character. The solid alder body, bolt-on maple neck and classic passive control layout provide a familiar starting point, while neck shaping, pickups and hardware are tuned for contemporary playing. That keeps the American Professional instantly recognizable as a Precision Bass and expands the proven concept where comfort, control and reliability matter most in daily use.

Modified 1963 "C" With a Modern Playing Feel

The maple neck features a Modified 1963 "C" profile that draws on a historically shaped Fender neck. Rolled fingerboard edges support a comfortably broken-in feel, while the "Super-Natural" satin urethane finish on the back of the neck provides a smooth surface. The front of the headstock, by contrast, is finished in gloss urethane. The neck heel has also been re-contoured to make access to the upper frets more comfortable. With its 9.5" fingerboard radius, a maple fingerboard and Narrow-Tall frets, this Precision Bass combines classic Fender proportions with a modern orientation.

V-Mod III Precision Bass Pickup

At the heart of the electronics is a single V-Mod III Split Single-Coil Precision Bass pickup. Fender tuned this generation for a particularly articulate response without losing the punchy attack and characteristic growl the Precision Bass has been known for for decades. The controls remain deliberately direct: master volume and master tone allow quick, intuitive tone shaping without extra switching. ClassicGear Precision potentiometers complement the electronics with a smooth taper, defined rotational feel and a musically tuned response curve.

HiMass Pro Bridge For Flexible Stringing

The 4-saddle HiMass Pro bridge allows both string-through-body and top-load configurations, offering two stringing options. Its massive construction is designed for increased sustain and integrates seamlessly into the instrument's professional concept. Fender lightweight vintage-style tuners with tapered shafts combine classic looks with a lightweight design. A bone nut, the traditional 34" long-scale neck and uncomplicated passive electronics round out the spec. The American Professional Precision Bass therefore stays true to the P-Bass's stripped-down, immediate principle while adding exactly those details that make sense for regular stage, studio and session work.
