For all fans of Celtic (and, of course, other) music, the 29-string Celtic harp from Classic Cantabile delivers pleasant, feel-good tones for everyone.

Typical Design

Characteristic of the Celtic harp is the typically curved shape of the column, as found on the Irish coat of arms. The hook harp made of ash wood has a range of 4 octaves (C - c³).

Tuning

The 29 strings are tuned diatonically to E-flat major, with the blue and red strings indicating where the notes C and F are located. By flipping up the respective hooks, the harp can quickly be retuned to another key, making it very flexible for playing with others. For first attempts and easier understanding, a C tuning is also possible. The two tuning keys are used to tune the instrument: while the square key is applied to the tuning pegs, the hex key serves the fine tuners on the opposite side.

Lever Mechanism

The special mechanism of this harp makes it a versatile companion in different keys. Each string is equipped with a semitone lever which, when flipped up, raises the pitch of that string by a semitone. That way you're ready for any sharp key with just a few simple moves.

To avoid transport damage, the harp is shipped with the levers folded up. Therefore, they are first folded down so that all strings can vibrate freely. In this state the harp is then tuned to C major, and it is completely normal that the strings will need to be retuned regularly during the first weeks. Once the strings have stretched sufficiently, the tuning will hold for much longer.
