The beautiful sound of the Kawai SK-EX concert grand is the heart of the new CA901. You now find it in two variants. As with the previous model as the SK-EX Concert Grand and now also as the SK-EX COMPETITION GRAND.

The new SK-EX COMPETITION GRAND tone was newly and meticulously sampled from an SK-EX concert grand selected for international competitions from the latest generation. Multiple microphone positions captured all the nuances of this special grand, resulting in a more powerful tone and greater dynamics. The subsequent mixing of the different microphone positions was oriented toward the player position, unlike the SK-EX Concert Grand, which sounds more like a listener position.

Impressive Appearance

The CA901 convinces not only with its many inner values. Its modern design is also an eye-catcher. The sophisticated appearance reinterprets classic piano design. The slim side profile, high-quality workmanship and the slowly closing key cover complete the elegant overall picture. Ergonomics were also improved: the pedal position has been moved further back, allowing better playing ergonomics.

Exceptional Keyboard

The CA901 is equipped with the Grand Feel III action with wooden keys, which provides an exceptionally realistic playing feel. The key length of the Grand Feel III keyboard (from the front edge of the key to the balance-rail pin) is longer than any other digital piano keyboard. All eighty-eight black and white keys are made entirely from long wooden parts. As on a grand, each key moves smoothly on a balance rail. When a key is struck, as on the original, a weighted hammer moves upward. In addition, the 3-sensor system ensures optimal repetition and control.

TwinDrive Soundboard System

With the TwinDrive Soundboard System Kawai has succeeded in reproducing a wide frequency spectrum directly via the soundboard. The rear soundboard is driven into vibration by two AURES transducers, so no additional bass speakers are required. The result is a dispersion behavior like that of an acoustic piano and an optimal acoustic reproduction of the piano sound. This system is based on the natural resonance of acoustic pianos and is therefore far superior to the principle of conventional speaker systems.

In addition to hi-end audio signal paths, digital amplifiers and a high-quality headphone amplifier, the CA901 is equipped in addition to its unique soundboard system with 6 speakers and 360-degree diffusers for the upward-facing speakers. These specially developed components create a sound experience that distributes the natural sound throughout the room and allows listeners to hear it just like the player, without quality loss.

Bluetooth Audio/MIDI

In addition to the USB-to-host port, the CA901 is also equipped with Bluetooth® MIDI 5.0 technology, enabling wireless communication with smart devices (e.g. smartphone or tablet). This gives you the opportunity to comfortably use a wide selection of music-related apps such as the Kawai PianoRemote App or the PiaBookPlayer App in conjunction with your CA901 digital piano. Or simply use the Bluetooth® Audio 5.1 interface. Just connect your smartphone to the CA901 and you can enjoy all your music directly through the CA901's speaker system. This is especially recommended for play-along or to listen to instructional videos.

Touchscreen Control

The CA901 features a 5" touchscreen with an anti-glare surface. All functions can be operated easily. Additionally, you can control the CA901 via the PianoRemote app available for Android and iOS, which essentially mirrors the internal system. The display can turn off completely when inactive so you are even less distracted from playing.

USB-To-Device Functionality With MP3/WAV Recording And Playback

The CA901 is equipped with USB ports that not only allow you to exchange MIDI data with a connected computer. For example, you can also save data directly to a USB storage device. Playing songs by your favorite artists in MP3 or WAV format is also possible. You can also record your own performance in MP3 or WAV format and, for example, email it to friends so they can listen on a smartphone or PC or burn the songs to CD on a PC.
