The RC-505mkII retains everything that made the original so popular and adds numerous new features to make the looping experience even more creative and fluid. The faders offer longer travel for finer adjustments and provide a more stable feel during operation. Each track now also has dedicated effect and track buttons, allowing you to edit and control your loops more easily in hectic situations. The undo/redo function has been expanded with a new Mark-Back feature, letting you instantly jump back to an earlier loop state during your performance.

Your Personalized Workflow

The original RC-505 already allowed extensive customization to suit individual needs. The RC-505mkII takes personalization to the next level with a wide range of assignable controls. Assign different CTL parameters to the FX and track buttons, triggered by single press, double press, or hold. Pressing the undo/redo button accesses a second layer with additional options. There are also two external control inputs for connecting footswitches or expression pedals—each with fixed parameter assignments. Need more? The assignment screens let you set up to 16 different targets for hardware and MIDI control.

More Tonal Colors for Inspiring Loops

Tonal variations make your loop performances even more dynamic. The RC-505mkII offers a vastly expanded effect palette to shape your sounds during recording and playback. Choose from 49 input and 53 track effects—including powerful new vocal harmony effects—and use up to four simultaneously per section. You can also store four input and track effects as groups in four banks for quick recall. The associated buttons can be set to toggle or momentary mode. Additionally, individual effects feature a step sequencer function to automate parameter changes and create dynamic movements in real time.

Connect and Mix

Thanks to expanded connectivity and integrated audio effect processing, you need less gear to achieve more. Available are two XLR microphone inputs and two mono/stereo line input pairs for instruments and other equipment, plus an input mixer with two microphone compressors and independent EQs on all channels. On the output side, you’ll find three stereo output pairs and an output mixer with assignable routing options, a master reverb, and compressor. You can even customize the headphone output to monitor individual tracks and rhythm sounds. The USB port allows integration with computer DAWs and importing/exporting WAV loops via BOSS Tone Studio.

Creative Details

To meet the individual workflow needs of different performers, we drew inspiration from experienced loop station users and equipped the RC-505mkII with new creative possibilities. You’ll find three different overdub modes—including one that lets you replace the current sound of a loop track during playback. There’s also a new bounce-in function to combine multiple tracks into a new one. Besides half and double playback speeds, you can freely adjust the overall speed—with or without pitch correction. Furthermore, the auto-rec function can now be assigned to a button or footswitch for quick and easy activation.
