The specially developed MIDI pickup system and the associated electronics allow the retrofitting of your favorite instrument for the following technologies:

The technology is invisible from the outside (no add-ons or attachments will mar your valuable instrument; only a small connector and the select button with control LED reveal the built-in HDS MIDI technology). This reliably forwards your playing to the sound module (sound generator), PC, etc. There your personal orchestra will sound exactly as you wish.

With these easy-to-use devices you can now play any acoustic or electronic instrument (sample) via the keyboard. You can switch instrumentation within seconds. And you don’t need a technician or days of training to do it.

Mature sensor technology, high-tech electronics and components that meet today’s industrial standards enable a compact design of the HDSmidi system. Thus the look of your instrument remains unchanged and the natural acoustic sound remains completely unaffected. Analog bellows sensors that are resistant to dirt, dust and humidity guarantee highest reliability, precise response with short key travel and perfect push/pull switching of bellows dynamics.

Functions

Every key of the instrument can, in addition to producing a note, perform a second function — a so-called control function. Triggering these control functions is enabled by the Select button located on the bass side of your instrument together with a specially programmed playing key on the instrument. We distinguish between two types of functions:

• Functions that perform external control, i.e. control a sound generator (e.g. HDS iSound, iPad app) so sounds can be switched.
• Functions that perform internal control of the HDSmidi. E.g., Bass MIDI on/off.

External Control — Triggering Sound Groups (Patches) or Switching Sounds

By sending program numbers from your instrument (Program Changes), you can switch "sounds" (single tones) or patches (sound groups) on the connected sound generator. Depending on the instrument — on the accordion it’s the designated playing keys, and on button instruments it’s the first two rows of treble buttons — these receive program commands. The number of keys on the instrument determines how many program numbers can be sent. Customer requests are gladly accommodated.

Calling up patches is done via a specific MIDI channel, called the base, control or global channel depending on the manufacturer. This global channel is set to MIDI channel 15 on your HDSmidi at delivery.

Patches for HDS iSound (iPad / Apple), Concept & Structure

• Accordion
  - In the octaves from 1.C to 3.C
  - So over two octaves there are patches with program changes/performance switching
  - The patches in the lower and upper ranges are without program changes; these can be used to call up other HDSmidi operating states if needed.
• Styrian Accordion
  - First row with "MIDI operating states"
  - Second & third rows: patches with program changes/performance switching

HDS Pro.Software

The HDS Pro.Midi is programmed ready-to-play and ready-for-operation by the specialist dealer or the HDSmusic installation workshops before delivery. Of course you can change all the most important parameters to suit your own preferences with HDS Pro.Soft. A patch editor ensures that programs can be programmed and stored in the HDS Pro.Midi. This can be very useful when using an expander that has no storage capabilities.
