Affordable nice SDC mic
Review from Luka on 23.07.2018

I never expected for this mic to compete with brand name players, but it's incredibly close in sound that it delivers. Pair it with a nice preamp and you'll be surprised how good it will sound!
Also, much love to Kirstein crew for packing and delivering in such short time!
Bang for the buck definitely!
Just what I was looking for

The mics were intended as donor housings for KM 84 replicas. This worked perfectly. The thread accepts original Neumann capsules from the KM184, the circuit including transformer from a KM84 fits well in the housing. The tube is metal and very solid. The result is the best small diaphragm pair I have worked with so far (with official competition).

The original transistor circuit sounds by the way with a good capsule not bad!

Kirstein has delivered super fast as always.

Thanks a lot!

The microphone Pronomic SCM-1 is above average for the price. The sound is very natural and not as sharp in the treble as some other cheap microphones. I hear absolutely no noise and am just totally satisfied with it. In addition, it looks great in matte black and makes a rock-solid impression. I have already made test recordings with my classical guitar and am impressed! Buy recommendation!
Small but mighty

I would never have thought that there are such good small diaphragm microphones in this price range. I use these microphones as a pickup for my acoustic guitar. Of course I had to try all possible positions first.
The self-noise is so low, you hardly notice it.
The only drawback: The switch is difficult to move, but since I only pick up my guitar directly, I do not need to constantly to the switch. I think it makes sense that the switch is so low.
In any case, I can highly recommend these mics.
Great quality with low price

I use the microphones for recording live music. They make a very good level with a clear and detailed sound image. The bass comes across powerful and complete. The workmanship is high quality, compared to much more expensive brand products they do not need to hide. I can give full recommendation.

I use the mics (2 pcs.) as stereo recording mics for a Tascam DR-40. There are the quite useful and much better than the integrated mics. Despite small diaphragm a good bass response and also otherwise quite balanced. Also no obtrusive highs. Highly recommended.
Good price-performance ratio

For the price there is an amazingly good pair of small diaphragms. Compared to similarly priced small diaphragms from the Cologne music house, the Pronomic SCM-1 do not sound so "pointed", which indicates a much more homogeneous frequency response in the upper frequencies. Transparency with acoustic guitar is good, the lows come across sufficiently well in my opinion. The stereo imaging with coincident miking (XY), i.e. cardioid with 90 and 110° is also sufficiently good.
So I can not complain!
I would now only wish for an interchangeable capsule with an omnidirectional and hypercardioid!
A lot of potential for a little bit of money

These mics have great potential. First thing you must do is take out the screen. Sound improves 100%. To do that, carefully remove the capsule head and then unscrew the ring that holds the capsule in place. Take the capsule out (it comes in pieces). Take out screen. Put back together and enjoy a much cleaner mic. I went a step further and replaced the output resisters. Now a 30 € mic sounds like a 300 € mic... or more. Another trick: if you don't like the frequency response, there is a trim pot inside. A little bit does a lot. Move it counter-clockwise to tone down the high end. Voila!
Excellent value for money!

When I ordered this microphone set, I did not expect very much of it.
But the quality of these microphones is amazing! Low noise, full lows and bright highs,
They are so good that I ordered a second set!
I compared the SCM-1 with a AKG C451/CK1 and the SCM-1 wins!
Highly recommended!

I use the microphone for accordion recordings. The sensitivity is shr good, the sound is also well reproduced. Something sharp in the treble but for that you can not complain at the price. I bought the stereo parr, and now record bass and treble separately. That goes very well.
