This flute stand is indeed extraordinarily stable and is also easy to assemble, once you have overcome your initial reluctance to press the legs down really firmly in their final position. A Sandner tenor flute, which corresponds to a Boehm flute in terms of length and internal diameter, stands securely and tip-proof on it. What to think of the soft surface is not really clear to me at the moment. It is a kind of textile flocking, as known from some toy figures. On the one hand, it protects the instrument effectively from scratches, but on the other hand, this surface naturally gets damp when you place a played instrument with condensation inside on it during a break in playing. I would prefer a smooth surface.
