Yamaha YDS-152 Digital Saxophone

Authentic Saxophone Feeling Meets Modern Digital Technology!

The Yamaha YDS-152 Digital Saxophone blends the expressiveness of an acoustic saxophone with the flexible possibilities of a digital wind instrument. With 87 voices — including 56 authentic saxophone sounds — a high-quality brass bell and the innovative Integrated Bell Acoustic System, this digital saxophone delivers an especially natural playing feel. Compared with the previous Yamaha YDS-150 model, the YDS-152 impresses with an expanded sound selection and a modern USB-C connection. Versus the compact YDS-122, it offers a more elaborate acoustic resonance system and comfortable Bluetooth-MIDI connectivity to the YDS-Controller app. Whether for daily practice, creative music-making or expressive performances: the Yamaha YDS-152 combines authentic saxophone tones, flexible volume control and contemporary connectivity.

Integrated Bell Acoustic System - Feel the Music!

The Yamaha YDS-152 features the Integrated Bell Acoustic System with a real bell made of yellow brass. The system combines a speaker unit, an acoustic tube and the resonant brass bell. Vibrations generated while playing transfer to the instrument body and are perceptible at the mouthpiece and keys. That creates a direct connection between player and instrument. While the Yamaha YDS-122 relies on a lighter bell with a simplified acoustic mechanism, the YDS-152 offers a more comprehensive resonance system for a playing feel that more closely resembles a traditional saxophone.

87 Voices for Versatile Musical Expression!

With a total of 87 voices, the Yamaha YDS-152 provides an extensive sound library for a wide range of musical styles. The 56 saxophone presets capture the tonal character of soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. Additional instrument sounds include flute, shakuhachi and electronic timbres. The high-quality AWM sampling technology is based on carefully recorded sounds from Yamaha acoustic saxophones and enables natural sound reproduction. Compared with the Yamaha YDS-150 with 73 voices, the YDS-152 offers 14 additional sound variations, opening extra creative possibilities for jazz, pop, electronic music and experimental arrangements.

Natural Playing Feel With Breath Sensor and Saxophone Keys!

The key layout of the YDS-152 follows Yamaha acoustic saxophones and allows familiar fingering technique. An integrated breath sensor detects breath pressure and converts it into dynamic sound control so you can shape volume and tone with your breath. The specially developed mouthpiece supports comfortable playing and can be removed for cleaning. Additional settings and alternative fingering systems can be configured via the YDS-Controller app. The instrument is therefore ideal for saxophonists as well as musicians discovering the world of digital wind instruments.

Bluetooth-MIDI and USB-C for Modern Connectivity!

The Yamaha YDS-152 offers versatile equipment for the digital music workflow. Via Bluetooth-MIDI the instrument connects wirelessly to the compatible YDS-Controller app, where key instrument settings can be adjusted conveniently. In contrast, the Yamaha YDS-122 requires a USB connection to the Controller app. The YDS-152's USB-TO-HOST connector is implemented as a modern USB-C port, replacing the Micro-USB connector of the previous YDS-150. In addition, Bluetooth audio, an AUX input and a headphone jack are available. The instrument can also be used as a MIDI controller, providing extra options for digital music production.

Practice Flexibly - At Home and On the Road!

The 15-step volume control lets you adjust playback volume comfortably. Use the headphone output for discreet practice without giving up the instrument's different voice colors. External audio signals can be fed in via the AUX input so you can play along with backing tracks. Power is supplied either via a suitable USB-C power source or four AAA batteries / compatible Ni-MH rechargeable cells. An auto power-off function adds convenience. The included soft case and carrying strap make transport to rehearsals, lessons and gigs easy.

Yamaha YDS-152 - The Digital Saxophone With Expanded Expression!

The Yamaha YDS-152 combines the high-quality resonance technology of the YDS-150 with an expanded sound library and contemporary USB-C connectivity. Compared with the YDS-122 it stands out especially thanks to the real brass bell, the Integrated Bell Acoustic System and wireless app connection via Bluetooth-MIDI. That makes the YDS-152 an attractive choice for musicians who want the familiar feel of a saxophone combined with the flexibility of a modern digital saxophone.
