The Bach Apollo trumpet is a modern interpretation of an original Vincent Bach model. While the Stradivarius is known for its iconic one-piece, hand-hammered trumpet bell, Bach's original Apollo design featured a two-piece bell. The new 170 series of professional instruments uses the same valve cluster and chassis as the world-famous 180 series. Combined with a two-piece bell made from different materials and produced using the same careful manufacturing process as the Stradivarius models, this results in a trumpet that serves modern players across all styles.

The 170-43GY model features a two-piece size-43 bell with a throat made of gold brass and a bell flare of brass. The unique material combination yields a sound that blends the depth and fullness of gold brass with the brilliance and sheen of brass. It is based on a one-piece ML .459" brass valve chassis, also used in the Bach 180 series, and has a lightweight body with brass inner and outer slides as well as brass Z-braces. The model has been updated with a new standard 6R-style leadpipe that provides exceptionally quick response and easy playability.
