They therefore have a thicker heel and are cut on a longer vamp with a slightly thicker tip than the Traditional. The longer vamp means a larger part of the reed vibrates, yielding a deeper, fuller sound. The thicker tip provides a more forceful attack and also increases the reed's durability.
