Convincing in All Registers, Outstanding "Attack" for Groovy Basslines!
Together with Peter Laib, Klier expanded their Signature series to include mouthpieces for tuba and sousaphone. Laib’s models are: a larger and heavier alternative for the tuba and a completely new design for the sousaphone.
The New Signature Series from Klier
The latest addition to the Exclusive series is Klier’s Signature series. With these mouthpieces, the specialists from Diespeck in Middle Franconia outdo themselves once again. True to the Custom Shop spirit, perfectly tailored mouthpieces are created for musicians—of course, as always, "Made in Germany."
His mouthpiece "Sousaphone 18 P. Laib" features an adjusted cup shape and reduced bore to suit tightly sized instruments. The airflow has been significantly improved for precise response.
It Was Time for a Special Sousaphone Mouthpiece
"Most sousaphone players use a tuba mouthpiece for their instrument. But since a sousaphone is not the same as a tuba and certainly has its own quirks, it was time to finally create a special sousaphone mouthpiece with the possibilities of the Custom Shop," explains Laib.
He adds: "Over several Moop Mama tours, I worked with JK to refine the JK Sousaphone 18 P. Laib, to finally play a sousaphone mouthpiece whose sound convinces me absolutely in all registers and offers me outstanding 'attack' for groovy basslines."
About Peter Laib
Born in 1984 in Schnürpflingen near Ulm in Swabia, Peter Laib is known as a musician (tuba, sousaphone, and alphorn) as well as a composer and lyricist. From 2008, he studied tuba at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
Peter Laib is a founding member of the hip hop brass band "Moop Mama," where he plays sousaphone. As a tubist, he also performs with "Ernst Hutter and the Egerländer Musicians - The Original," the "Small Egerländer Ensemble - The Original," and the "Obermüller Musicians." In 2020, he produced and released his first audio drama "The Ulm Dreamer."
