Josef Klier Signature Mouthpiece Roman Pizio for Bass Flugelhorn!
JK Exclusive mouthpieces deliver large tonal volume, pure intonation, easy response and precisely calculated resistance in cup shaping and backbore, providing the player with excellent endurance.
A professional musician's personal sonic ideas and demands — like those of Roman Pizio of the Fäaschtbänkler — can only be met with the highest technical precision. That's why Klier in Diespeck (Middle Franconia) uses computer-controlled CNC lathes to produce their JK mouthpieces. Only this manufacturing method, with its high positional accuracy, enables the serial precision required with tolerances in the micrometer range (thousandths of a millimeter).
Unique in the Mouthpiece Sector
The consistent embouchure and cup diameter within each series, together with exact and finely graded variations, let the musician achieve any desired style without having to change their embouchure. A mouthpiece series with such precise and optimally engineered workmanship is not found in any other mouthpiece offering.
The Verdict from Professional Musician Roman Pizio
"Working with Klier produced an incredibly brilliant bass flugelhorn mouthpiece. We tried so many things — from the cup and rim shape to the playing feel — and I'm really happy with the final result...
We found a combination that delivers a mega sound while responding so clearly and directly that I can always fully rely on my instrument."
About Roman Pizio
Roman Pizio comes from Oberegg in the beautiful Appenzell Vorderland. As a child he was already fascinated by music and made his first experiences on a xylophone and a keyboard. At seven he began his first trumpet lessons. Three years later he was already strengthening the trumpet section in the youth band.
It was clear to him that he would one day turn his hobby into a profession. After the required school years he completed a bachelor’s degree in trumpet at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory, followed by a master's degree in Lucerne, which he finished in the summer of 2012.
In 2008 he co-founded the Fäaschtbänkler together with Andreas Frei, Roman Wüthrich, Michael Hutter and Marco Graber. The rest is history. "...a life loooong..." ;-)
The Fäaschtbänkler's music? A fireworks of pop, brass, electro, techno and Oberkrainer sound. The instrumentation? As versatile as a Swiss Army knife: vocals, trumpet, baritone, accordion, guitar, drums, clarinet, saxophone, Styrian accordion, alphorn, piano, electric bass – anything goes as long as it's fun.
