For more than forty years the Superstar name has stood for groundbreaking design, top-tier craftsmanship, brilliant tone and clear projection. Superstar Classic continues that tradition by raising the bar for discerning drummers—remarkably doing so while trimming the price. The classic Tama T-Shape badge and the Low-Mass Single Lugs, inspired by past Superstars, nod to the straightforward stance of the '70s, while the ingenious Star-Mount system and the new, thinner 100% maple shells leave everything that came before in the shade.

Features

Maple and Lacebark Pine Shells

Sound is the top priority in producing the Superstar series. The drums’ full, powerful character and rich resonance come from carefully selected woods, specialized manufacturing techniques and premium bearing edges. The 7 mm bass drum shell is made from 6 plies of maple with two outer plies of Lacebark Pine, while the snare and toms use 4 plies of maple with two outer plies of Lacebark Pine for a 5 mm shell thickness.

Power Craft II Heads

All Superstar "Power Craft II" heads deliver great tone practically right out of the box. Thanks to the ring dampers on the bass drum heads, no additional internal damping is required.

Bass Drum Claws

These claw hooks stabilize the wood hoops on the bass drum and feature an integrated rubber lining that protects the wood and helps preserve tuning even during long gigs.

Tom Mounts

Tama's Omnisphere mounting systems with L-rods have been trusted by drummers for over 25 years. They allow easy positioning, deliver maximum flexibility and stability, and provide better tone than conventional designs that intrude into the shell and dampen resonance.

Low-Mass Lugs

The new lugs designed for the Superstar Classic series make minimal contact with the shell and do not influence the drum's tone.

Star-Mount System

The Star-Mount system was developed to enhance the toms’ vibrational behavior. Secured on four tension bolts, its slim design still lets you place the toms very close together.

Boom Cymbal Stand with Retractable Boom

With double-braced legs and a boom arm, this cymbal stand fits every rehearsal room and stage situation. Its relatively high own weight of over 5 kg allows use with large, heavy cymbals even with the boom extended. The 40 cm boom proves incredibly practical: you can position cymbals and percussion fairly independently of the stand’s base. At the same time, the boom can be recessed into the upper tube (for tight stage setups). Boom length and angle are independently adjustable via two finely notched adjustment screws.

Drum Throne

The throne features a round, leather-look seat and stands on three non-slip rubber feet. It raises and lowers easily via a robust precision spindle. With a removable seat and folding legs, this seat is quick and simple to transport. Its double-braced legs also withstand heavy use and deliver uncompromising stability.

Bass Drum Pedal

This double-chain bass drum pedal guarantees a consistent, powerful beat with excellent playing comfort. Extremely high-quality workmanship assures long life even under heavy use. Thanks to versatile adjustment options, the XDrum pedal adapts to any player and playing style—spring tension and beater throw can be precisely tuned.

Hi-Hat Stand

Thanks to a sturdy steel base plate and double-braced legs, this hi-hat stand is rock-solid, while the two large spikes ensure non-slip footing. The three legs with rubber feet rotate for easy integration into any drum setup (including double-pedal setups). The double-chain drive runs silently and the tension is infinitely adjustable via a grippy adjustment wheel. Professional features include a memo lock, clutch and angle adjuster for the hi-hat cymbals. The low-mass tilting mechanism for the bottom cymbal uses three rubber pads to minimize contact and let the full sonic potential of the hi-hats shine through.

Snare Drum Stand

The basket adjusts with a knurled nut to fit 13" to 14" snares. A top-tier feature is the ball joint, which lets you angle and lock the snare smoothly in any direction—so the feet can sit optimally between the hi-hat and pedal while the upper part is set independently. The ball joint also rotates so the snare strainer is always in the right place.
