Three Legendary Gain Modules In One Pedal!

The Crazy Tube Circuits Triptychon is a fully analog guitar effects pedal that combines fuzz, treble boost (or upper octave fuzz) and an amp-like drive section in a versatile stompbox. The three tonal sections can be used individually or combined into a dynamically responding gain structure. Four characterful fuzz voicings, two booster variants, two upper-octave sounds and a flexible routing logic open up a wide spectrum from transparent vintage crunch to dense, overtone-rich fuzz.

Four Independent Fuzz Voicings

The heart of the Triptychon is an analog fuzz circuit with four selectable voices. The FF position follows the dynamic behavior of classic Fuzz-Face circuits, while VTB captures the distinctive character of early Tone Bender concepts. The 3/2 position provides an open, sensitive response in the style of a Tone Bender Mk1.5. Voice 2, by contrast, generates a punchier, more saturated sound modeled after a Tone Bender MkII. Use the Fuzz and Volume controls to precisely set the amount of distortion and the output level.

Treble Booster And Upper Octave Fuzz

The right section operates either as a treble booster or as an upper-octave fuzz. In Boost mode you get a classic, focused treble boost and a fuller, mid-forward variant. In Octave mode you switch between a clearer, more organic octave-fuzz sound and a louder, more heavily saturated voice with pronounced harmonic overtones. The Gain control sets the intensity of the boost or the octave fuzz.

Drive With The Feel Of A Driven Amp

The left section was designed to emulate the dynamic behavior of an already driven tube amp. It provides the compression, touch response and harmonic foundation that make fuzz and booster circuits react most musically. Drive controls the amount of gain, Tone adjusts the high-frequency content and Master controls the output level. This lets you use the section for subtle thickening and extended sustain as well as for a much more aggressive overdrive structure.

Silicon Stability With Germanium-like Dynamics

Six metal-cased silicon transistors work in a specially developed circuit that reproduces the sensitive response and characteristic back-off of classic germanium fuzz pedals. At the same time performance remains stable under changing environmental conditions. Using your guitar's volume pot you can expressively control the amount of distortion and switch between open, almost clean tones and intense vintage fuzz.

Optimized For Modern Pedalboards

Traditional fuzz and treble booster circuits react strongly to a direct connection with passive guitar pickups. Buffered effects, active pickups or wireless systems can change that interaction. That's why the Triptychon includes separate, switchable anti-buffer circuits for the fuzz and the boost/octave sections. They provide a suitable impedance relationship and an authentic response when buffers or active circuits are placed before the pedal. When connected directly to passive pickups the anti-buffer switches remain deactivated.

Flexible Routing And Reliable Switching

The drive section can be assigned to the fuzz footswitch or to the boost and octave footswitch. With an optionally available Crazy Tube Circuits XT or a suitable passive latching footswitch it can also be activated independently. All three effect areas use high-quality relay true bypass when switched off. That keeps your setup tidy while letting you recall different gain combinations quickly and reliably.

Professional Power Supply

The Triptychon requires a regulated, stabilized and filtered 9 V DC power supply with center negative. Maximum current draw is 80 mA. For optimal, low-noise performance an isolated power supply output is recommended. A power supply is not included.
