HX One – The Swiss Army Knife of Effect Devices!
HX One is a powerful stereo effect pedal housed in an ultra-compact enclosure that easily fits on any pedalboard. It features intuitive controls, over 250 effects from the HX family processors, a unique Flux Controller, a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal or two footswitches, adjustable input impedance, MIDI capabilities, and the choice between true or buffered DSP bypass.
Behavioral Modeling
HX Modeling technology captures the unique behavior of analog effect devices by measuring their individual components. The result is authentic recreations of even notoriously hard-to-model effects like germanium fuzz and analog delay pedals of the "bucket brigade" type.
Ultra-Compact
Thanks to its ultra-compact housing, the HX One easily integrates into your setup—and fits on almost any pedalboard.
Interaction
Selecting and activating effects is straightforward. To change effect settings, simply adjust the parameters displayed on the OLED screen using the three corresponding knobs.
Flux Controller
With Flux, you can adjust multiple effect parameters simultaneously over a set period—all with a single footswitch press.
Adjustable Input Impedance
A pedal’s input impedance determines how much your instrument’s pickup signal is “loaded,” affecting both tone and playing feel. Adjustable input impedance lets you compensate for pickups with varying signal strengths.
External Control
Connect an optional expression pedal (which automatically assigns to the relevant effect parameters), two assignable external footswitches, or one of each.
MIDI Capable
Via the MIDI In and Out/Thru ports, the HX One can receive program changes, continuous controllers, and other MIDI commands from external sources.
Bypass Options
Choose between true or buffered DSP bypass. True bypass avoids A/D/A conversion by routing analog signals directly from inputs to outputs.
USB
Connect the USB-C port to your computer to perform firmware updates and back up or restore the 128 built-in presets using the free HX One Librarian app.

Specifically, that means amp and cab models, effects, everything for different instruments (electric guitar, acoustic, bass, keyboard), and a number of exciting use cases. I sent it into a Nanocab (12 guitar cab) at home with my Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170 as the power amp, and it immediately sounded very, very good. But I can also hook it up to an FRFR box, which allows me to pick up the sound that goes through the PA later, 1-to-1. With such a box I can use the Stomp as an acoustic guitar amplifier, which is only possible with restrictions with a regular electric guitar box, because such guitar boxes are not "full range", i.e. they cut off parts of the frequency spectrum. Also, thanks to various free presets and IRs online, I can load acoustic guitar simulations for electric guitars to get an acoustic sound on stage even with an electric guitar. Sure, it doesn't sound like a high quality acoustic in real, but it comes close to an electrically miked acoustic guitar. And it's all in a small stompbox.
Only the headphone output isn't quite up to scratch. The corresponding output on the Black Spirit 200, for example, is much more pleasant and reproduces the sound that otherwise goes out via guitar speaker or FRFR speaker much better. But I don't deduct a star for the HX Stomp, because it already covers a bunch of interesting use cases for manageable money. In this respect: Experiment successful, the part stays there.
