The new IN-8 2nd Wave features an updated amplifier module, delivering 12 dB less self-noise while boosting output by 3 dB. The tuning has been refined for an even smoother high-frequency response, and the Boundary EQs updated to allow practical adjustments. New is the preset for horizontal speaker placement. Additional updates include lighter driver diaphragms for faster transient response and an improved cabinet design to reduce internal resonances.

As an evolution of the successful LP-8, the IN-8 2nd Wave retains its sophisticated bass reflex system and the same high-output woofer. Instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, it employs a coaxial mid-high combination. The profile-optimized 4" midrange driver also acts as a waveguide. By limiting peak excursion to 1 mm, intermodulation distortion common in coaxial systems is avoided. The midrange driver also relieves the woofer and tweeter, resulting in a more harmonious and distortion-free performance than conventional 2-way studio monitors.

The woofer crossover frequency is at 280 Hz, making the IN-8 2nd Wave an acoustic point source. Phase cancellations on the vertical axis are virtually eliminated. Instead, the IN-8 2nd Wave offers a consistent dispersion pattern across the entire frequency range with excellent depth layering and imaging. The stereo image benefits from the coaxial arrangement, enabling detailed mixing. Thanks to the "Boundary EQ" known from the LP series, the IN-8 2nd Wave adapts as easily as its sibling models to various studio environments.
